... is it worth buying ???

Since the price is around 600 euros / dollar, I would like to hear the honest answer from pilots who have already bought it and are using it ...

- How long does the built-in battery last?
- Is the reception quality (ocusync 2) at least as good as with the MA2 controller?
- The readability of the display should be very good, right?
- What other (important) advantages are seen?

Pilots who have used the Smart Controller before, i.e. who already own it, might see things differently anyway ...?

I have the Smart controller, readability is poor. Also if you try to fly very smooth & slow, it's very easy to touch the screen & mess up your flight. I would not get a Smart Controller.

Comms is good, but really the only plus point is that it's fast to get out the box & fly.

If you want readability, look at the Crystal Sky.

... are you really sure that you set the screen brightness to "adjust automatically" or to 100%?

I am now positively surprised that the SC is so easy to read outdoors ...     
Can something be defective in your case if you are not satisfied at all?

Have you bought the smart controller?

At the rate DJI has messed around with the software update for the MA2 to link to the Smart Controller, I think they are about to release the Smart Controller 2 with a larger onboard storage area. I will wait a while and see. The demand has now started to go up for the SC but the price on the factory re-furbished units stays stable, lets wait and see.

So I'm really excited!
I had watched a lot of videos beforehand - pros and cons.

The range is futile, the readability, the possibility of zooming over the second wheel, the easy assembly without the "annoying" wiring ...
The SC fits exactly into the pocket of the MA2 (fly more combo).
The smartphone can still be used, you don't have to switch it off (flight mode) and still not be "disturbed" during the flight ...

And then in winter: works down to -20 ° C.

I really want to keep the SC, very high quality, really ...

The readability of the display of the Smart Controller in strong sunshine alone is a purchase argument, really !!!

I’ve owned it since it’s release, battery time is still as good as when I purchased.

Advantages.
Quicker time to launch
Great visibility on screen on bright days
Signal is exceptional
No more clogging up phone
Now able to use phone while flying
Keeps all drone records in one place
Offers a lot more than just RC

Disadvantages.
I suppose many will say Price.
But if you consider to replace your normal RC for a Mavic Air 2 it will set you back €299. So value against a normal RC is for me exceptional. It is a premium built piece of kit solid feels really good in the hand and exudes quality. For me it’s worth every cent spent.

Pretty sure my s20 and the s20's note 20's in gemeral have a better peak brightness/nits.... Now back on the s8 and s9 were out it could only sustain it for a couple minutes   . this is where the smart controller was really interesting....my s20 and the screen are great the whole flight. seriously have no problems.... Honestly it's probably the best app experience I've had too!  Amd i used all their apps go4 he original go etc.... They're always used to be a cutout or a lag in app.... DJI fly works great with Galaxy s20. I know it's mostly because of a 64-bit architecture and well the sd-865 is a beast also

I own a Samsung S20 and have been using it the whole time with the Fly app (MM and MA2) ...

I can only repeat it:
The Smart Controller is a "completely different league". Really no comparison with a smartphone, really not.

It always worked "somehow" (I still have to go with the MM), but since I've had the SC, flying has been something completely different, relaxing ...

... and I was hoping that I was the trigger ...

The morning DJI announced capability with the MA2, I order it.  I haven't found anything negative about it, except to course the cost.

I really hope they come out with Smart Controller V2 with a larger screen (7 inch). I just can't justify spending $750 for a controller with a smaller screen than my cell phone.
