I noticed that DJI is now selling a 4-port battery charging hub for the Inspire 1. Now that the Phantom batteries are finally shipping, it would be nice to see DJI introduce a multi-port charging hub for the Phantoms.

I saw that and was wondering the same thing. Also, is there any possiblity of this working with the P3 batteries and Charger?

You can make one easily,  each battery had its own charger built in,  you just need to supply it 17.3 volts and 5 or 6 amps per battery and use Traxxas high current plugs to plug into the batteries. You just might have to cut the paddock back off the Traxxas connectors so they fit.  So if you want to charge 4 p3 batteries you need a power supply of 17.3 volts dc witj 20 to 24 amps of current out put.   The voltage stays 17.3 volts and toy take 5 amps x how many batteries..  you can't over due it cuz each battety will regulate what each lipo cell gets. ..  look at the P2 multiple battety chargers they have our there, only difference is the voltage. You can prolly even use the parellel boats if you want and if you don't they already have them for the p3 batteries now

Just need the 17.3 volt 15 to 18 amp power supply to plug into it.. the stock p3 charger even plugs into it. It will take allot longer to charge 4 batteries with the stock charger but at least you wouldn't have to switch the batteries.  Just plug em in and let em charge..

All inclusive solution for $50 and works perfectly fine..  thanks to the smart batteries having the charging circuits built in..  this just gets them the power they need to do their thing...

I doubt it would work . . . the inspire is 22.2 volts and the Phantom is 15.2.

Very nice . . . but $500?  I like the idea of a DJI engineered option for $90, like the Inspire.  I hope they make one . . . I will be first in line.

Re the $10 item on eBay . . . . i don't know enough about electronics to take that risk.

I've purchased the one on ebay it is very finicky and the charger that came with the bird doesn't fit well and often loses connection, I'd rather not take the risk of a spark etc.

It works fine for me..  I don't use the stock charger on it though, I've got a 18 amp power supply plugged into it with a barrel plug and the batteries fit on it just fine.. It charges 3 and my stock charger charges the 4th one..  And it's not electronic, it is basically a parallel plug to get power to the batteries.. The p3's battery is where any and all of the electronics are. They balance charge themselves..  Your just needing to give them the power they need..  The stock p2 and p3's chargers aren't anything special, they are just a 6 amp dc power supply either 12.8 volts for the p2 or 17.3 volts for the p3.  But whatever, if you don't feel comfortable with it by all means don't get it..  If dji releases a dock charger like they did for the inspire I would probably buy it myself and use it instead of what I'm doing now, because it's more neat looking and convenient....

That hub looks interesting.  I went ahead and got this multi-battery charger that can handle 3 PH3 batteries.  It was only $39 from my dealer.  Works great.

Thanks Robb88 for attempting to answer my question directly, To everyone else, I am aware of all the other options out there. I know the Inspire is higher voltage but that voltage is supplied by the power supply included with the craft. What i would like to know is if I use my P3P power supply will it work the same way. Also will the P3 batteries plug into dock. This doesn't charge them at the same time but lets you que up 4 batteries and it starts with the fullest battery and then moves on to the next fullest. I had a 3-port power supply for my P2 that worked the same way, not enough voltage for the P3 batteries though.

I think that it's pretty likely that DJI will eventually offer a multi port solution at some point.  I was merely pointing out one solution that is currently available.  I am sure there will be more in the future.

Heck... DJI can't even keep up with orders and firmware fixes right now.  You can't even get spare parts yet.  We have to be patient.  Good things come to those who wait...

while $90 sounds better, the $500 one will charge 4 batteries in just under 1 hour, the $90 one that is due for release within the next few weeks for theP3 charges the battery with the highest voltage first then it moves to the next , son on and so forth. so for 4 batteries to be charged it could take up to 4 hours. fro what  i understood. i just read today on this forum the news about the p3 batt hub release date!!

I ordered the charging hub for the Inspire 1 and it arrived today.  Per the instruction booklet, it only charges one at a time . . . major disappointment.   I then looked at the DJI marketing ad and it simply says it charges up to four batteries "automatically"  (i.e. not "simultaneously").   Well, thank goodness it was only $90.
