Dear all,

Can you help me, with what setup of battery should I go for my stock F550, GP 4, H3-3D gimbal and FPV video.

4S or 3S, and what mAh?

I would like to get 10+ minutes flights.

Thank you very much for your help.

4S something in the 5000mah range.

Hi have a F550 with E300, Naza M V2- Arris 3000Pro gimbal and FPV Video. With battery the weight is 2490g. I'm using a ROC 4S 5800mah 30c 14.8V  and I only can fly max 4 min.
Any bad configuration???, Please help

AGA Power has 4s batteries at 6200mAh, I'm using these and have about 10-13 mins depended on wind conditions. But don't go with heavier batteries expecially when flying in strong wind.

What about the settings of low voltage alarm in NAZA assistant?

The procedure of setting the voltages is described precisely in NAZA Assistant when you put the mouse pointer over the appropriate voltage setting input box. Take a look at the attached image to learn how.  In general, for the 1st level protection, a setting of 13,80 for "no load" and 13,50 for "loaded" is acceptable (4s Lipos)

Dear Scotts,
I'm going to use a AGA 4S 10000 mAh with my F550. What is your 1st and 2nd level protection no load voltage setting ?

the only voltage the naza reads to determine its low voltage warning is the LOADED one.
it does not read the No LOAD  or the LOSS.

theres is no need to enter anything in LOSS....just enter your ist level and 2nd level

personally i dont use the Low voltage alert feature, but prefer to use a timer on ,y radio ( with alarm/ vibrate ) in conjunction with a lipo alarm plugged into the flight battery.

@ stenatb,

16 to 18 min flight time with a 4 cell 5000mah battery on a f550 with a gimble? Are you sure? In 8 minutes my f550 with h3-3d gimble, naza v2, and Lightbridge eats up 5200mah running a 4 cell and in 10 min i used 6300mah of my 7200mah packs..

With my f450 with no gimble and just a iosd, fatshark 600tvl cam and immersionrc 2.4ghz 700mw vtx and immersionrc ez-uhf rx i can get 22min with 6500mah used of my 7200mah 4 cell packs...  my 5000mah packs ive gotta land in 15 min..   i can see your times being Accurate with a f450 but f550 uses 13 more amps Than a f450 and i can't get it any lower. ..

What is your secret?

It is not just the capacity of the battery.  You need to look at energy density and weight.
Some of the new multicopter targeted batteries have significantly higher energy density (mah/kg) and therefore lower weight for the same capacity.  This translates into longer flight times.  To compare batteries use the formula  (amp hours* nominal voltage)/weight.
It would be interesting to see what the energy density of the batteries being used are.

I ONLY buy my batteries from maxamps.com

http://www.maxamps.com/products.php?cat=F550+Flame+Wheel

I bought a 9000xl (true 100C) battery and it is far and away the BEST battery I've used with the 550. I get 12 minutes where my 6000xl batteries give me 7.5 to 8.

Do NOT buy the 11,000 battery it is only 40c so it simply can't provide the juice over a long flight. You can take off and fly for 3 or 4 minutes, but then you have to set down and let the battery rest, then you can fly again for 3 or 4 minutes. It's just not that great.

I hope that helps

Not sure what you are running for motor etc on your copter but 100C batteries with more for a given capacity.
A 100C 9,000 mAh battery can out put 900 amps.  The standard DJI 550 motors are only about 150 watts max so at  ~15 volts this is 10 amps per motor or 60 amps top at absolute full tilt. A 10 C battery of the same capacity if more than capable of handling this.  The DJI batteries for both Phantom and Inspire are about 10 C batteries which give a higher energy density that high C rated batteries.

In general a 10 to 20C battery is more than sufficient for multicopter use and better since for the same weight you get more capacity and flight time.

I assume the higher the solution to the formula you gave, the better the battery?

I'm interested in this because I recently got into flying with an f550. I have a 11000 mAh 3s maxamps battery, and I can get about 12 minutes with my gopro mount, but when I add the gimbal I purchased it seems to struggle with the weight, so I've been planning on upgrading to a 4s battery (in the 5000 to 6600 mAh range) to gain a little more lift.

My rig is about 2.4 kg with the battery and I'm wondering what flight times I could expect with a 5000 or 6600 mAh 4s battery.

The higher the solution the more energy the battery has to use which all equal translates into longer flight times.
But capacity alone is only part of the issue with flight time.
In your case it sounds like you are near the weight limit for you system with a 3S battery.  More capacity with the same battery type will only make flight time worse when you are at this point as weight will increase.
A higher energy density battery of the same capacity would have less weight and would fly longer.
You are right going with 4S should give more lift a ~8250 4S of the same type would have about the same energy and weight and would give you more lift capacity.  Better yet would be a 4S with higher energy density which would have the same total energy but weight less.

Hi, I have an 11000 mAh 3s battery and get about 12 min of flight time (Carbon fiber 9443 props). The battery you are using is somewhat smaller and you have a gimbal on you craft (my battery with a gimbal struggles). You might need to look into a larger battery. I'm looking into a 4s battery hoping that will help with lifting the gimbal.

I wired up my 6600 mAh battery today. It wasn't fully charged when I got it, but wasn't dead, so I flew it a little bit (I think my starting voltage was 15.6).  When I fly with a full charge I'll be able to tell more if I like it. I didn't land until my loaded voltage was about 13.9. The battery felt a little warm, but I'm not sure how warm is to warm. I flew about 10 minutes, but landed to feel my motors to see if they were warm mid flight.  When I cam inside and plugged the battery into my LiPo tester the resting voltage came up to about 4.7v

I think that, the relation weight of the drone - flight time is very important!

Remember that for engines E300 DJI recommends a maximum flight weight of 1800g and for E310 a maximum flight weight of 2400g (with battery 4s).
