It was a lovely day - an opportunity not to be missed. We're back in France now - the journey was done in non-stop rain, so we're glad to be safely home. No problems at the ports.

We saw a few police vehicles en route.  We're safely back home in France now.

I was just reading your comments on a different thread.  I didn't realize you had an 18 hour trip.  Man, that is a long trip, especially if it rained all the way.

That includes the 6 hour ferry crossing and two hours in the ports for embarkation and passport control etc.  But it's still quite a trip.

They keep changing it - but 14 days was current when we entered the country. From today however they reduced it to seven if you pass  a second test.  Inconsistencies abound.

Got it.  A guy I was stationed with in the Navy was working temporarily in Aruba and when he returned to the states he had to quarantine for 14 days and then have a negative test in order to return to work.  At the 14 day mark he had a positive test but no symptoms.  10 days later he had another positive test and still had no symptoms.  His company was getting a bit concerned so they paid for him to get a more in-depth test and this test was negative.   So not sure how accurate some of the nasal swab tests are.

I agree.  Unfortunately, it will take the vaccine manufacturers time in order to produce the quantity required to mass vaccinate.  Hopefully, more vaccines will be approved and that will help in the availability of vaccinations.  Currently, in the US, the vaccination program is in chaos.

It had its moments. But it was disappointing to be unable to visit with family as much as we'd hoped due to the covid restrictions.   Maybe next time.
