What works better is stand in front of your car it will make a nice reflector if it's made out of metal no fiber.

It's really hard to believe that something that simple would make the P3P almost double in flight length. Can someone verify that this actually works?

I don't see why it would not .... You must pay particularly attentive to pointing  your antennas perpendicular to your  bird while it's farther  away  than usual as it isn't a dohnut shapped wave anymore. Not as much signal will be seeping to the sides or behind you with this DIY "adjustment"

hahaha - and then also make a tinfoil hat with the leftovers

This actually works for me!  I made a pair in an hour.  Increased my flight  distance from 2000 ft to over 5800 ft.  Easy to slip on/off.  Free.

Thanks for the idea. I took it and I made them taller. Because the P3 antenns are so tall I wanted something that reflected the entire antenna.

I have not tested them out yet. I will be doing that today

Go to eBay, I bought one, not received yet.
It is in a vertical format instead of horizontal, so I ll let u guys know when I receive it. Search for windsurfer p3 range booster. It's 3d printed and looked nice and neat, how it will work? I will let u know

Copper will work too but aluminum foil easier and cheaper.

Hi Gabe, adhesive aluminum foil is a valid solution  ;-)

Printed pretty well. glued some aluminum foil to it. will be testing it later this afternoon. Not sure how to add pictures, using a macbook pro

Gonna try this aswell, i have a pretty good rance allreddy one time flow 3500 meters and still decent signal, battery 53 % and a warning to go back home, so if this works it must handle 5K ?
only problem than would be the limid of the battery, i,ll keep you informed !

Not really.
With copper being twice as conductive as aluminum and 6 times more conductive than steel, it makes an excellent choice as an antenna material. The increased electrical efficiency means more of your RF energy will go up and out the antenna and not be trapped, creating heat energy.

On a pure energy efficiency standpoint, copper is the best material to choose for a base station or permanently mounted antenna. More of your signal will get into the air and less RF energy will be turned into heat by the internal resistance of the metal.Any energy you use to make heat is energy you aren't using to make electromagnetic waves.

Copper Foil Tape would be a pretty good solution for those who look for extended range.Something like this.

Ordered one on Ebay, and did a first test yesterday.
I had to depress the RTH button once the bird reached 4.04km (more than 13250 feet, or 2.51mi) because the bird had to fly back upwind.
No a single signal drop, landed with 17% battery. Total flight distance 8471m - 27792 feet

I'm pretty sure it would have reached 5km without wind.

As far as copper vs. aluminum... The shield is needed for reflectivity, not conductivity.  So I would think both would work equally well.

People windsurfer antenna actually works! I saw him today, fabricated and tested , normally I can in good conditions when I'm high enough fly fetch about 3,500 meters, now I was at 4,200 meters without signal loss , the limiting factor is the battery now , at 55 % it indicates you have to go back , and that's true good, you need 50 % to achieve the maximum distance and another 50 % to come back safe with a safety margin of 5 %
So more can hardly , I flew with 7 meters per second, so maybe if you fly max speed you come up even further?
