I`am using my iPhone 6+ and until now it has been working just fine (had the ultrasonic system error twice - but thats another problem).
Would you wise pilot :-) recommend to disable WiFi and set it on Fly mode (iPhone6+) when flying the bird?
Yes it's generally a good idea to shut off the radios in the phone by using Airplane mode. You can pre cache the maps in google maps so your maps will work offline.
Could someone please explain in detail how to cache a map and bring it up when you need it. My Ipad mini 3 is WiFi only. I have been using my phone's Hotspot as a WiFi connection for the Ipad while flying so that I will have a map.
They seem to cache automatically. I just go to the pilot app and figure out where Im going to fly and zoom in on it and it auto saves so when your out in the field its already on there.
Go to Google maps, when you have zoomed in on the map you want to cache, then type in the search field. "okay maps" and it will cache your actually map.
