My DJI FPV has flipped backwards on take-off three times now damaging the props beyond repair.
I noticed that after putting on the props and pushing the props down they stick sometimes and don’t pop up. I only have one more set of props left and have to take off on a soft surface like a landing pad. Previously I have taken off on rocks or concreate surfaces.
The drone should not be doing this, can anyone tell me why this is happening and a solution?
Thanks

Hello there. I am sorry for the trouble this has caused and thank you for reaching out. Can you please check if the propellers of your DJI FPV are attached on the proper motor of the said DJI Drone. For reference I will post a diagram to where the said propellers should be placed. Thank you.

Sounds like props on wrong, check the rotation of the motors, they rotate ‘Outwards’ look down onto the drone, the front LHnprop should rotate CCW the one front right CW at the rear the rear left should turn CW and the rear right CCW.

It will be easier to see this with the props removed and touching the motor with a piece of paper.

There have been reports of motors going the wrong way. If they are correct and the props are correctly mounted in the correct places you may have a faulty drone, try an IMU calibration see if that solves your problem.

Thanks to both of you, I am sure I put the red on red and black on black, but I am hoping I made that mistake so it will not be a problem. I will try again tomorrow.

There are 2 boxes of props and many ppl assume all 4 props from one box go on together.  It's actually 2 props from each box during setup.  DJI should label this warning on EACH box.

Even with the correct props, the drone can flip backwards if you don't give it enough throttle.
Make sure to read through the thread linked here. The backflip can be seen a little after 27:37 of this YouTube video.

Mine was doing this too and I realized that I stupidly put the props on wrong, even though I had done it properly 10 times beforehand. Luckily it was on carpet and the props didn't get damaged. The drone should come with two sets, by the way.

That was in manual mode.

Mine did the same.  This is my third DJI drone, so I am familiar with the propellers and how they go on.  Props were in correct positions and didn't have any other problems putting them on??  Props did not stop and eventually I was struck - drone traveled about 8 feet upside down to hit me.  Been fine since??

Don’t take off in manual mode. I mean it’ll work, but it’s like any other drone in manual mode - it doesn’t forgive pilot error and it will dutifully flip over and crash if you accidentally tell it to. I always take off in normal mode every time. I’ve taken off in manual also, and it’s fine as long as you smartly get it away from the ground and into a stable attitude like a hover or forward flight.

But normal mode is just so much easier and there’s no reason not to use it for takeoff or landing.

Hello !!

If the propellers are mounted in the right way then the problem could be only two:

- The drone has some problems and I recommend you do the calibration of its compass and gyroscope.

- Taking off and landing in manual mode really requires experience and skills .....

I have been flying freestyle for 5 years and with the DJI FPV I take off and land in N mode .... and then I immediately switch to M mode and I enjoy my flight !!

There is this possibility that puts you in total safety .... why not use it?

Good flight
