I was wondering if there is any point in selecting the LOG color mode when shooting still photgraphy and setting the contrast and saturation to -3, the same as when shooting video.
I usually shoot RAW, Auto WB, Style None, Color None, 5 AEB - merge in Photomatix and correct in Lightroom.

I thought LOG was only beneficial for video, but have read of someone selecting it for stills and doing the -3 style, with good results.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for still photography settings. Thanks.

I don't think it makes any difference when taking photos in RAW format.
The .DNG files will be the raw data off the sensor, without any adjustments on the image.

Correct. It doesn't affect RAW stills but it will affect JPEG as well as video.
