I still can't believe this happened!

I was soooo lucky that no real damage was done!

The Phantom appeared much closer to me and much further away from the bank then the reality. If I had been watching the monitor I would have seen how low I was and possibly could have avoided the tumble.

Live and learn.

I thought the Phantom was toast after this.

There wasn't a crack or any issues. Did a complete recalibration and haven't had any problems. Yet.

Nice Video - Patern should be spelled pattern .   You were very lucky and it is easy to get disoriented .

I had a similar insident with a tree. was watching the P3 rather than the monitor. Thought it was facing me... it wasn't. I accelerated to bring the P3 back to me, but was going the opposite direction. By the time I figured it out, it was tumbling to the ground. I though for sure it was toast. Didn't even damage a prop. I chased it down, set it upright, and flew it back to the car. Not even a scratch - I have no idea how.

In airplane flying we call this "controlled flight into terrain." Here's some good info:

Needed a warning system that says, "Pull-up, Pull-up !"

VPS could be used in combination with current rate of descent to know when to generate warning.

Once the new update comes out to fix the VPS.
