Hello

I unboxed the P3P for the 1st time and power it without taking off the gimbal clamp or foam protection.

Got a message "Gimbal overload" on the phone and immediately turned it off as I understood what I had done wrong.
From Power on to Power off must have been top 20 seconds.

Is it possible I damaged the gimbal?

No, there is a smart security in the gimbal that turns off when it becomes to hot.
everything should be fine and you can continue your flights
