I recently, like most of us, updated the DJI Fly app to the latest one 1.4.8. I have been using 2 different phones with previous versions and they have both been fine. Since updating to 1.4.8 I have found various issues occurring - App won't connect to drone, 'recommended zone' continuously loading, on the older phone it started charging the battery then it stopped then it started again etc etc, black screen when opening app after hitting the 'Go Fly' button, just the cross hairs showing, go to the three little dots top right hand corner and check safety everything set at 65mtrs, if I do get to fly after a little while the photo/video buttons go grey and will not work. Obviously I cant go flying if I can't set the safety or see where I am flying on the screen.


I thought it might be a fault with either the controller or drone itself, but last night I uninstalled the apps from both phones and installed the 1.4.2 version, since doing that everything seems to be fine again, I know that both phones are not on the recommended list of phones but they have both been fine up until I installed the latest app.


I wonder if anyone else has had the same issues and are DJI going to sort out these bugs soon?

Reports of impressions during flights are contradictory. Lots of people like me have a recurring problem, other people praise the new version of DJIfly. Personally, I think DJI has to admit its mistake eventually and will soon release a new version compatible with most smartphones. Let us be of good cheer.

Derek, you are not the only one to have issues.  DJI has yet to acknowledge an issue and most probably will not.  They will just issue another update and hopefully soon.  I too have reinstalled v1.4.4.  

Today did 2 flights without any issues. DJI Smart Controller FW 1.100.0068, DJI Fly App 1.4.8(1120). Aircrafts Air2S and Mini2. Switching Aircrafts at Aircraft Management at SC settings menu.

Thats why i keep flyapp 1.3.0 - always works without any issues

Easiest method to revert away from 1.4.8?
I installed it, then saw some negative posts, so still have not flown since I updated.
I'll sell it off before I allow some idiot programmer to make me lose my asset.
I'm not holding my breath they will correct this, if anything it was an intention.

Unfortunatly there are 3 versions of Fly 1.4.8
The latest is stable on a lot of smartphones. Those mensioned on the DJI list are for sure ok.

I have 1.4.8(1120) successfully running on a Samsung S20fe 5G and the DJI smart controller. No problems at all.

So, if your smartphone is on the compatibility list, I think you won't have a problem. But some phones with different processors and chipsets might be compromised.

For anyone having issues with the app version 1.4.8(1120) on Android, DJI sent me a new beta version of 1.4.8(1185) that I've been testing out today. So far it seems very solid. None of the issues I was having with build 1120 are present. No app crashes, master shots, quick shots, and hyperlapse all worked normally. Also had zero issues with subject selection for active track. No video breakup, black screens and no disconnects from the drone. I have created a link here for anyone wanting to test it out. It would be a good idea to report back to DJI support about your experience with it. Many thanks for that I have installed it on one of my phones we will see how it performs when I get chance to fly next, bloody UK weather at the moment.

I installed it on my S21 Ultra Snapdragon. I was having no problems with 120, but tried this. I could not detect any problems, if anything, maybe a little smoother.

Configuration: android 10 LG V50 ii DJI Fly 1.4.8 (1185) not working. Application suspension after several seconds. This has nothing to do with overheating, but with the backward mismatch of the application.

Follow me, would be a bonus lol  actually, daft, its such a little jump in build # it can only be fixes
unless of course, they are holding back releasing any functionality until these bugs are ironed out.

Would also be great to know the cause of these current bugs although, I'm not sure they always tell us.

Hi Bashy,

when it is a subversion of 1.4.8 don't expect new functionalities.

Should they bring it out under a new version number, there could be new functionalities.

When DJI brengs it out as a subversion, they even will not tell, neither it won't be installed automatically. When you complain, they will advice to install the version again.
Just check on their website, start download and see if it marks a new subversion. As I see it at this momen, it is still 1120.
Give it some days.

Thanks, i did find it in the end, I am quite new to the Dji Fly software having been with DJI Go 4
for the last 4 years, although this DJI Fly is more intuitive, especially for beginners

Yeah, thanks, I had a feeling it would be a new version as opposed to a new build.

With the go 4 app, that auto-updated as it was through Google Play. I doubt I will update this
Fly app unless new functions come about as it's working great for me on my Note 20 Ultra, it also
works ok to a point on my Tab S2 9.7", I say to a point only because the live view is not quite a smooth
its certainly workable but I think it's right on the edge of its resources. Shame that as its been a damn
good tablet for this purpose :/

Guessing by his accent and the fact the cars are driving forward on the left side ...... this person is not in FCC mode on android.

I am. Tennessee. I just did a trial of this version. Mine was stable on 1120 with zero problems. With this one, still no problems. I did a distance test and got about the same results.  I am very satisfied with it. Samsung S21 Ultra 512 gig Android 11 with all updates.

I will try out this 1185 as well. the 1120 gave me a few times gps signal weak and other messages although I had full gps signal and also full bars connection. and was a little laggy until I enabled airplane mode. since then it was pretty smooth but still I am sure I was able to get more distance in certain areas where I was flying before and since the 1120 lesser range. Lets see with the 1185. I have an old Samsung A5 only for flying the drone it only has 3gig of RAM but runs the app and all previous versions until now pretty well

I downloaded the new version onto both phones the other day, one worked fine and I got further than I had before with interference, the other one froze etc etc etc, even after reboot etc, black screen, icons greyed out etc, I got a feeling that I had inadvertently loaded the wrong build onto that phone I forgot to check the build number before installing or uninstalling it, made sure I was installing 1185 and tried again, it seems OK now (only tried it indoors as I didn't have time to fly properly) but will see what happens when I go flying later.

Did some testing yesterday, had a new phone delivered, installed the app 1.4.8 (build 1185) used my current phone and my old phone and here are the results:

Samsung Galaxy A40 (current phone) - using build 1185, took off everything normal managed to fly for about 1 mile before interference then lost signal which was about normal for where I was flying, automatic return to home and then signal returned, and all was normal landed manually, seems fine.

Samsung Galaxy A12 (new phone) - using build 1185, took off everything normal, seems marginally smoother video feed, flew to the same place and got similar results to previous flight, so all normal except as I said seems smoother video feed and its also a bigger display which I like.

Huawei Honor 5C (old phone) - using build 1185 took off everything OK, about 2 minutes into flight apparent loss of signal a few times even though showing full signal bars, lots of video lag to phone, lots of GPS signal loss warnings, then screen froze with no control, app crashed, in the meantime automatic return to home kicked in, restarted app and signal regained, bought back to home and landed. I uninstalled app 1185 and installed 1.4.4 (build 1072), did same flight again with no problems, very similar to the first flight I did with my Samsung A40.

It would appear that older phones do not like build 1185, I will be using my Samsung A40 or my new A12 for flying I think from now on, hopefully DJI will finalise build 1185 as we all know what BETA stands for.

I am not sure you would expect to see improvements in Video or GPS signal with the app update.

The sync between the Mini2 and the RC is handled by Firmware and not the app... So I would be more than surprised if we saw any changes in 1185 other than app stability.

Today, black screen.... Crash.... Reset.... At 2 meters , in front of me....

Flew today with Samsung Galaxy A40, app version 1.4.8 (1185) after about 5 minutes screen locked up, no responce so did auto return to home, uninstalled 1185 and reinstalled 1.4.4 (1172), did another flight with no problems, so I have rolled back my new phone as well to 1172, and will keep them like that until this app is updated properly.

I did too long flights and the only issue i had was in FCC mode, it was just a slight flicker of black screen, very slight, i will see if i can find it on the live view, lasted milliseonds
and was of no issue to me.

There was nothing wrong in CE mode, nothing at all, it was smooth. Note 20 ultra 5g

Think maybe I'll wait for the version AFTER 1.4.8 I backed up to 1.4.4

I just unboxed my Mini 2 today and while the controller can fly the drone, it does not connect to my iPhone 11.  It says 'RC not connected' so the camera shows nothing.  I reached out to DJI Support and hopefully I'll hear back asap.  Very unpleasant unboxing experience.

Yeah, I’ve tried it on two supported devices and one unsupported; it only briefly worked on the unsupported device. No version of 1.4.8 will even launch on any of them now, and one of the devices was freshly reset to rule out a bad OS state.

DJI support had no idea what to do when I mentioned the apps were crashing, so I captured a bug report and logs from one and sent it to them for escalation. Haven’t heard back for several weeks.

When will be the new 1.4.8 beta version also available  for IOS.
Its terrible to fly with the 1.4.8 version!!
Please DJI release a new version or make the beta version also available for IOS.
