I want to set it so the most recent posts show up first, not 8 or 10 pages deep.

Also do I get an email when I receive a response to a post in a thread?

What I am saying is I don't have any of those  screens or options.
Here is a screenshot I just took.

There are no toolbars or buttons along the top, bottom or sides.

Youre looking at the mobile version of the site,  try requesting desktop version in your mobile bowser.
