Im a little out of the new products and not had to worry about this since my first Mavic Air.

does the UK version of the new 2s use a weaker signal system like the old air did?

If I was to buy an Air 2s in the states and bring it home would I have the better system?

Due to local policy and regulation restrictions, the 5.8 GHz frequency band is currently banned in certain countries, including but not limited to Japan, Russia, Israel, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. Please use the 2.4 GHz frequency band when operating in these locations. Always check local rules and regulations before use, as they may change over time. In addition the maximum flight range specification is a proxy for radio link strength and resilience, not aircraft battery capability. It only refers to the maximum, one-way flight distance. Data was measured in an open environment without interference. Please pay attention to the return prompt on the DJI Fly app during actual flight. If you buy in the USA you may have issues with the warranty though.  Some people had to send theirs back via the USA for replacement/repair.

The drone is the same worldwide, FCC/CE modes are selected by software but the hardware is the same. If you buy the drone in EEUU and use it in UK, it will work on CE because it chooses the power output depending on your location in the globe.

If you intend to fly VLOS the CE power output is enough (500m is nothing), but if you want more stability (obstacles in the middle, congested 2.4Ghz areas) and long range capabilities there's a permanent FCC hack out there that it's actually the best accessory you can purchase for your drone apart from the official sunhood for the remote controller.
