hey guys, this may be a silly question but is it possible to use an ipad air 2 as a monitor for fpv with the Phantom 2 V2? (not vision+). If so, could someone please direct me to the type of transmiter i will need to purchase or if it is not possible could you go into depth as to why it wouldnt work! Much appreciated

Additional Research has lead me to a Teradek Clip but its a little pricey.. Are there any cheaper versions on the market and how to the go in terms of quality, weight & power consumption

I'm  sorry to correct you, but I have an IPAD 2, and it's working great with Bluetooth connection only.

Apple iPad 2 32GB, Wi-Fi + 3G (AT&T), 9.7in

I'm not sure of the difference from an Ipad Air 2 and an Ipad 2, except for the price.  Mine works great and it's the right size for my tired old eyes to see.

no its not possible to have the ipad work as a FPV monitor for you, the only solution for you ins to buy the DJI lightbridge otherwise FPV on your P2 is analog, not digital. You have to buy analog FPV monitor or fatshark googles.  Its not clear what you mean by Phantom2 V2, this is the Phantom2 with updated motors and remote

I have the Phantom 2 vision plus and everything on it is still stock.  It is not the new upgraded version that just came on the market.   I purchased the Phantom in April.  I'm running the Apple iPad 2, 32GB.  IOS 8.1 and I do not have any WIFI service on it at all.  I just use it to connect wifi to the Phantom wifi,

Just curious as how you guys are using the ipad as fpv..  Only thing ii can think of is using the gopro app  but its delayed and supposidly not supposed to use the wifi during flt..  Sorry for the newb thinking here., thanks for the tips.

How can you fix the ipad air on the controller ? I have a Iphone 6+ and the jaws are fully expand !

I cannot see your system! Sorry

I think the 6+ at 5.5" is too wide to hold in the standard jaws.  It's more a phablet than a phone.

The holder can only open about 4".

But I have a IPad air and it would just be great to have a bigger view!. But I need a system to keep it in place! Did someone as a trick?

Nice that it fits; when I measured the distance between the 2 jaws I get about 4.5" but I guess I can see if you open them further you could get more.

Thanks for the replays guys but I'm not sure we are on the same wavelength.. My question was directed at phantom 2 models only (people with phantom 2 vision or vision plus will not be able to help..). Instead of going out and purchasing a monitor such as a 7" black pearl I wanted to use my pre existing iPad (latest model so it will support the software)! I'm looking for a cheapish transmitter that will deed directly from my gopro and transmit straight to my iPad or to a receiver that then feeds into my iPad and is watchable by an app or something along those lines.. AGAIN, it is not the vision plus model, thanks

see my earlier post. I was saying the same thing, its about the P2 not Vision. Its not possible with your ipad expect you buy lightbridge which is very expansive

This is the IPAD 2 that I have
Apple iPad 2 32GB, Wi-Fi + 3G (AT&T), 9.7in - Black (MC774LL/A)
It has to have an IOS of 6.1 or higher for the DJI app to run on it.  I downloaded it from the google play store.  Free APP, You can also get the APP from the DJI downloads.
This is the sunshade and clamp that I got from Ebay.  It is very sturdy.

maccool, what is that extra piece you have that is actually around your ipad (the piece that the iphone clamp is clamped on to)?

I really like that mount.

I have a P2V+ and a 3rd gen IPad WiFi and Cellular (the cellular is currently off)The software on the Quad and the RC is updated to the latest versions.

• Can I use this iPad with my system?
• Is there any reason that I need to turn on the cellular?
• If this works, it seems like a pretty good system as old iPads can be acquired fairly inexpensely.

so the final answer, no you cant usw the iPad with your phantom2 unless you buy lightbridge since the iPad has no analog ports for video.

Correct, only the vision and vision plus can use the ipad running the dji vision app.
If you have a basic phantom 2 with a gopro or similar then you need a fpv kit with a dedicated monitor.
What is your exact set-up ?
