What do You think - is there a chance for Pilot App or any third party app that will be compatible with Google Cardboard or Gear VR software on android? That would awesome to be able use this for FPV - it is very hard to see the screen in bright sun and other options are quite costly.

We have a VR mode working in Litchi, coming soon to Android for P3/I1/P2V+.
Works with Gear VR, cardboard goggles, and other mobile VR adapters.

litchi app is great in VR.  very immersive.  no lag.  full screen immersion with no map/little OSD

for ios - there is FPV Booster - also has VR mode...  also great app- different interface featuring lots of OSD telemetry data and a nice map.

I didn't "vote".  My Vote would be:  Lets worry about the current bugs that need to be worked out, then we can add some VR support!  (and I'm an S6/Gear VR owner!)

There will be always bugs. I agree, that other bugs are more important. However, it's almost impossible to fly in bright sun, no matter what device do you use. Google Cardboard/Gear VR offer most affordable way to overcome this issue. Sure it is not of much importance for DJI, since there should be some sales for HDMI board.
Going to try and test litchi VR.

Thought about the same - could be fun!

I would like to have VR mode in DJI GO app.

Google cardboard is an interesting idea that works on many apps. It uses 2 lenses mounted in a cardboard set of goggles that you mount your phone on.  The lenses focus the eyes to the short range view to the phone screen. You get a cheap, about 20.00 usd, pair of vr fpv goggles.

That bothers me not.  I always look smooth and suave, even with my tongue clamped between my teeth and protruding through my lips while my eyes are bulging halfway out of the sockets. At least this is what I tell my 54 year old self.

At the UK drone show I saw a company offering FPV on a Phantom with a nice set of specs without the need for the HDMI connection, plugged straight into the RC - however can't remember their name!
Think they were German! or the company rep was!
Cost was about £100
I will find out and post another day - but not need for google cardboard.

I tested Cardboard mode in Litchi today with a ColorCross cheap gogles and it works perfectly. DJI GO should also have a Cardboard mode.

I hope they add gear vr support or at least carboard

I use the Gear VR on the Litchi app. I just raise the connector (don't plug it in) and jamb it in there....Works perfect!

Instead of plugging it into connector...lift connector up then place your phone into VR...if still needed I'll post a pick when I get home from work later...

I loaded the cardboard app but it would not go split screen in Litchi.  How did you get it too?

You need to hit VR mode in Litchi - Cardboard icon at right side of window.

Got it.  Works great.  Better by far actually than my FatShark Dominator V3's.  And amazingly,  you control the camera gimbal tilt by tilting your head up and down.  All for 20 bucks for the goggle cardboard plastic goggles and the litchi app and of course the S5 galaxy.

Ya,  in field of view alone, the Cardboard gives you 70 degrees compared to 40 degrees for the fatshark dominator v3's. So the dominators are like looking at a 40 inch screen from 7 feet away.  To use the fatsharks with the, P3 you need to plug in the fatshark hdmi.  The Hdmi is a 99 dollar optional extra module for the P3 remote.  And,  aside from the massive difference in cost,  the cardboard lets you control gimbal tilt by tilting your head.  It's built in.  
The only category the fatshark wins in is looks.  Imho.

While cardboard would be nice, right now I'll take phantom 3 range in a phantom 4.

I use cloudlight ($10 app) and a cheap $30 HMD with an iphone.  Works amazing, head track (up down) and you can turn on AR mode so you can see through the camera of the phone so you don't need to take HMD off when you are landing.  No P4 support yet :-(

Currently, all VR goggles and VR in general are crap. It's going to be a while before this technology is perfected. So I think I'll wait.

Current VR gogles, like Baofeng Mojing IV, connected with Galaxy S6 or any phone with 2,5K resolution works very good with P3/i1. I am using it with Litchi. Even with 1080p it will be good enough for piloting a drone.

There are 2 versions of controller (it doesnt matter for our purpose), iOS and Android. I owe Android version. Good lenses, high quality product.

DJi should put VR option to DJI GO and make a deal with Baofeng.

Will the P4 support FPV VR?

Hi, i got a samsung grandprime which is not compatible with the cardboard app because it doenst have gyroscope, but I want to know if with litchi will runs well the VR mode without use the head tracking, I´m just interested in get rid of the bright sun issue.

depending on which Phantom you have, Litchi is free,,,at least for the P2V+ but for P3 and above it is not free,.

As long as Litchi will enter the FPV goggle mode it will work fine with or without head tracking.  And Litchi will enter that mode by tapping the little goggle icon just below the top right menu icon.

Yes, I bought FPV camera app, it supports ios and I love it

And how things are going? DJI, any chances for VR mode in DJI GO?
