So ... I lost the signal from my camera.

Happened the first time the other day ... Lost the signal in between a change of battery.
The camera feed was on when I landed but as soon as I rebooted the bird there was nothing!
Then the day after it worked again.

Today it worked as I turned the inspire on doing some tests with different settings (no camera settings).
But after restarting the bird it was gone.
Note ... all the time my Inspire resting on the living room table (no flight).

As it comes and goes this indicates something is "loose" ... but as this happens when the bird isn´t in motion that tells me it´s more of a bug.

I can control the gimbal and I can take a picture ... the file is generated (the camera works).
I can not preview the pictures through the app.

I recall others having this problem earlier.
How was it solved?

Haven't seen that problem here, so I'm wondering if it is indeed an intermittent hardware failure with your system.

Hmmm, maybe check the gimble contacts. Or that black rubber seal.

Check to see if the fan on the camera has stopped when you loose signal and let us know what you find please.

I have similar problem and find that the video signal stops when the fan stops on my camera.

I have this problem now and the fan is working on camera..I think there is a major bug on the new firmware and the camera..everything works except no video feed, when I change the position of the camera from dark places to brighter subject, the ISO and shutter speed is reading it and changing, so I know the camera works..But now, you cannot update the firmware it makes a long beep noise after few beeps..everything still works and it will fly but just no video..I read somewhere its an issue with video module and could be related to hardware so mine is useless for video now..
I checked the hidden logs on the memory card and yes I see this "No Device Found" everytime...and the firmware update always fails

Are you suggesting that the camera is over heating?

This is not the problem in this case (I can take pictures, just no image in the "view finder" on the pilot app) ... and the fan is spinning just fine.

I took them out and reattached them ... no luck!

Yes that black round rubber with the little rubber balls around.
Also clean those contacts with some contact spray. (Camera and Gimble side)

So ... I tried cleaning the contacts ... no luck.

Now the problem seems to be constant ... I guess I will get use of the warranty then.

The fan ?

Yes ... and the problem is instant ... as soon as I turn the unit on.

I emailed the European support in Germany to see what they think about the problem .

Wilder,  Have you checked the pins of the gimbal on the aircraft - the part that the camera pushes up into and rotates to lock.  These can become slightly mis-aligned.

So ... I moved my bird from a desk to the living room table ... and now the camera works ...
So I can´t really look for "triggers" more than what possibly could make it not to work again.

Well ...

Turning it off and on again ... made the view finder go black ...
So ... trying the IMU thing anyways ... don´t think that it´s gonna work ... but it´s free to try!

I have had this happen a few times. Just turning it off and back on fixed it for me. The other day there was also "NO SIGNAL" and then it just popped up. It has never happened during flight though.

its a defective product..everything works except the video feed..the pictures even though it is black on the APP but if you view the memory card pics via a computer or download them locally on your tablet, you can view them fine..

Yes and it's worse than a horror movie!!!
Also, when I download a recorded video(even it is black) from the camera to the tablet via the APP, the speed is only 578KB/sec..So that is the issue...But then, even if you download the file locally, you still cant see the video...But I can view it fine on the laptop..

Here is an identical issue which he says DJI change the flight controller..

Update:
DJI site exchange policy shows if the unit is defective, but they are not willing to exchange my lemon unit..Now I open a dipute with paypal and possibly via American Express..I dont want a repair, I want an exchange since I wasted a planned aereal photgraphy meet and wasted a vacation for the sole purpose of my project..

DJI support team in Germany got my email after office hours on Friday and answered the following Monday. They want me to send my gear in ... and attached the RMA forms to use.
No suggestions at all from them on what to try first.  
As I understand there is a "general problem" so I am happy to send it in and get it fixed.
Stated turn around time for professional 10-15 work days ... and for hobbyist 20-25 days.

This "first season" was only practice for me any ways ...
I´m happy as long as any flaws is discovered and fixed under warranty ...
But a bit bummed out as I would have wanted more video material to work with during the winter as I need to practice to edit also! Most material I have so far is a bit "jumpy" (pilot error) and I was just starting to get a hang of it.

With a bit of luck the winter wont be to cold ...

I will not send it directly to DJI though ... I will first adress the retailer that I bought my I1 from.
