I know you're supposed to contact the airport tower if flying within 5 miles...but what if there isn't a contol tower???  It's an uncontrolled airfield.  I see that AirMap has the circle around it with the boxes depicting the remain below altitudes...and the DJI Geo Zone has the approach path with remain below altitudes.   But are those limiting or recommended altitude limits when flying near an uncontrolled airport???

You are not supposed to contact the tower. If the airport has LAANC it is easy to get permission. on line.

Yeah, I took it and got 100%.  I don't remember any questions about flying at an uncontrolled airport.  I have talked to the tower controller numerous times advising them where and what altitude I'd be flying at.  But I'm going to be flying closer than 5 miles to an uncontrolled airport (no tower controller) and I just wonder who I'm supposed to notify.

btw, you should refer to it as a non-towered airport.  airspace is controlled or uncontrolled....not the airport.


faa made it clear several years ago that drone pilots should stop calling airports and towers.
