I think the dynamic range he's getting is slightly better than the M2P.

Maybe on the sunrise shot, but the rest is easy on the sensor I think .

From what I have seen, it makes very little difference unless it is a really high contrast situation.
The 'epicness' is more in the way he captures the scene than in the dynamic range.
