The SDK that will release at the end of this month will support the Air2S and Mini2. They haven't released any timetable on the M3 SDK. Judging that the Air2S SDK took 9 months to release, and the SDK support for the Mini2 took over a year - the M3 SDK isn't coming anytime soon.

You never know, SDK on Phantom 4, 4 pro and mavic pro were all released weeks after their release, its only been the latest releases of Mini’s and Airs that SDK was delayed .

i know there's a thing about buying litchi for different platforms.  if i buy litchi for the original smart controller so it works with mini2, will i have to rebuy for rc pro and m3 next year?

Don't think so, I have Litchi for iOS and have transferred it to several iOS devices due to upgrades, I suspect as long as you have the Android version you should be able to load it to the RCP as it is just an Android 10 device with an RC attached to it.

No but if you have iOS and android you may need both apps, but all craft can use one litchi app.

Litchi and drone deploy for example would then be able to develop their app to support these drones for waypoints

Yeah, you’re probably right. Air 2S in December, M3 unknown timeframe, and best not to rush it out while the over the air interface might still be in flux. Anyway, I guess we wait and see.

The road map that is released is Air2S/mini2 31 December 2021 for android only.  -  I posted the road map here - https://forum.dji.com/forum.php? ... 6orderby%3Ddateline

On GitHub DJI said that mavic 3 didnt have eta but would probably be next year.  Probably year end if the mini2 timeline is anything to go by.

Good news

For the average user that only uses the Fly app and nothing else, the SDK is meaningless. For anyone that wants to do waypoints, mapping, surveying, and other advanced mission flights, they need to use third-party software, and that is only enabled by developers getting the SDK (Software Development Kit).

I notice they mention DEC for Air 2S but no date for Mavic 3.  This is like telling me that "the check is in the mail".  Also, unfortunately, it will probably only be virtual stick waypoints.  I guess we can only wait and see.

Are Air2S and Mini 2 the first of the Fly app drones to get SDK functionality? I would guess it is a much less substantial effort to support a new drone of the same approximate architecture than it is to incorporate an entirely new architecture.

Mini2 and Air2S are in no way “different architecture” just because they use the “Fly” app instead of GO. That’s not how it works. The Mini 1 also uses the FLY app anyway. So does the Air2.

It is a part of the overall architecture that would be what an SDK is developed against. As would the different generations of flight controller and other core sub-systems.

If Go and Fly use the similar interfaces, then maybe they are more similar but that is not what I understand to be the case.

I am generalizing as I have only developed against the SDK for the A3 flight controller and habe limited experience of the smaller consumer platforms but the concepts are the same.
