Anyone hand catching the Mavic 3 ? Is it possible with the DJI fly apps? cos I might miss the place where to switch off the landing protection. Any clues?

Absolutely no problem in hand catching the Mavic3, there's no need to switch off the landing protection, it will ascend a little as soon as it detects your hand,  you just hold the stick down and it'll land on your palm.

Hand catching is straight forward, I fly in ‘brake’ and just put my hand under the aircraft. Pull the left stick down until it starts to land and once it settles it shuts off. No need to grasp and flip.

I always handcatch - but M3 sometimes decided Not to go down, so I remove my hand push stick down again, and reach again

Just try it in break mode its pretty easy, and craft flys smoother. You also do it in bypass but you kinda need to sneak up on it.

I typically launch and land from a portable pad, but I have hand launched and hand landed with the M3 on a few occasions, and it was no more difficult than "hand-ling" any of my other drones.

Thanks to all. I could finally do some practice with the new drone. It is really simple and easy to do the hand catching with Mavic 3 than the previous drones I had.  I was deeply impressed with the high quality, long flight time and disances that Mavic 3 offered.

Sorry that won't work good enough. If you are Standing on a boat you can't guarantee that your hand keeps steady for so many seconds below the drone .. and if you and your hand moves a bit wile "detection" is happening it will move off to get some more safety distance which will destroy your landing attempt

I am not sure where your valid concern about a boat landing comes from but I can not find mention of a boat landing anywhere else in this thread.
