I am looking for anamorphic lens for Mavic 3, not seeing many choices.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places...
Do you have one already? Do you like it? Where did you get it from?

I'd say it's a filter that you may be waiting on for a bit. I know that Polar Pro makes bluemorphic and goldmorphic filters for DSLR/mirrorless lenses.

Damn, it's always the wait with M3 ;)

I'm sorry, I know this sounds snarky but does anyone on these forums use GOOGLE search or whatever?

Use this phrase: "anamorphic lens dji mavic 3".

That said you might want to look up the same for a M2P as there were problems reported with said products. They add weight to the gimbal which may cause problems with moving the gimbal. I suggest you read the reviews before you buy one. Have to admit though, footage from an anaphoric lend is IMO awesome!

I love anamorphic lens on drones it looks really good, Ulanzi have made lens for Pocket 1/2 and Air 2 so they have some pedigree. Check pocket forum to see if anyone has used them. I have used freewell ND anamorphic with pocket 1 & 2 also with Air 2 and it was excellent.

Having first used it with Air2 and then Pocket I have to agree footage is exceptional.

Hello there DarthSLR. Good day and thank you for reaching out. Since this is a 3rd party accessory for the DJI Mavic 3. I hope that our fellow DJI Co pilots can give out the best recommendation and information with regards to this matter. Thank you.

I haven’t used ulanzi before but the only two companies with history of anamorphic lens on drone are freewell and ulanzi. Moment did one for M2p but was extremely difficult to mount and very expensive.

Yeah, i think I saw it. However, the point is to get cinemascope by using the entire censor, not by trimming valuable data from the top and bottom.

"Moment did one for M2p but was extremely difficult to mount and very expensive."

And it has a tendency to damage the M2P's gimble, oh, you will have to put the filter on while the drone is powered on.

I did try that one, it was a friends but to much fuss and gimbal wasn’t always happy to have it on. So I got a freewell one for Air2 and I loved the footage from it they then released a ND anamorphic for Air2 which was fabulous. Then Air2s came out and I sold my Air2 but unfortunately there was no anamorphic lens anywhere for that drone. I actually sent the filters to VansPix here on this forum who is using them on his Air2 now.
So looking forward to trying the anamorphic out with Mavic3 hopefully soon.

Does the video results (or picture results) from the anamorphic lens require "stretching" in post?

Yes, but it's a trivial action.

To be more specific, anamorphic is not really needed for photo works as the manual or automated pano will give you an actually better result.
For video, however, if you want to use the whole sensor height AND end up with wide-screen results, the anamorphic workflow (squeeze in optics, stretch in post) is the only way to go.
The normal alternative is to use the standard 4/3 sensor and square pixels and then blank the top/bottom portions, thus losing valuable data and ending up with a smaller size content.

DE squeeze .. see video below I think will explain anamorphic and show you the de squeeze process which is very simple.

Yeah, in DR it's as simple as changing project/timeline/clip attributes and selecting cinemascope pixels instead of the standard square ones. I'm sure other advanced video editors have similar facilities. Not really sure about the basic ones, but hey, DR is completely and utterly FREE, so even if this is the ONLY reason to use it, might as well

That's pretty <censored> good for a "first attempt"!  Very cinematic.  I love how the lake/river bookends the video.

Thank you for that, it also explained the difference between anamorphic and wide angle (I pre-ordered the wide angle lens).

Also looks like a lot of editing can be done on an iPad (looked like an iPad anyways).

Yeah 90% of all my drone videos I do on ipad. They really handle 5k well at least on LumaFusion they do.

I have a question for you that is nagging me in tbe wee hours of my morning.  If one uses an anamorphic lens for recording video, that means an nd filter can't be used, which means no motion blur, or a lot of post work to deal with exposure.  Can you film with motion blur in mind when using a non nd filter lens?

I’m hoping an ND Anamorphic lens will come. Freewell made one of these for pocket 2 and Air2. Exposure with Mavic 3 is easy without ND filters and although they help on a very bright day, unless your filming something moving then they are not needed, its a little different with drones without manual Aperture but you have control of Aperture so you have plenty of options to control exposure without ND filters. Most shooting photographs will hardly ever use ND filters .

Workflow for me is pretty simple. I just download footage from SD card to SSD Disk Through a Mac Book Air. Once on the SSD 2 TB Sandisk,  I plug it into iPad Pro and use LumaFusion app to upload proxy to edit. I use LumaFusion because it handles 5k really well “no delays almost no waiting to render” when video is edited I load finished high resolution to SSD disk upload copy to you tube in 1080p it takes approx 90 seconds and 4k about 8 minutes. I usually save finished videos to a separate Disk and all uncut footage to a separate Hard drive and over time I delete stuff I will never watch again just to avoid clutter.

If I was doing a very large project I’d just use iMac and Final Cut Pro, I love using FCP but for short videos LumaFusion is faster and has everything and more than you need and for one off €25 its the cheapest best mobile software out there. I also like editing when I’m travelling or have some spare time so LumaFusion suits for this.
Ive uploaded video below its worth watching, my kit is similar to his except I’m still using IPad Pro 12.9, but I will shortly opt for Mini ipad 6. The beauty of small compact kit is you can fit in editing in your spare time particularly if your just editing for family social media etc and you find that you tend to get it done much quicker and don’t leave on memory cards waiting.

Back to my OP...
I see a few offerings on eBay, but with the 3 week shipping time from mainland China, they do not inspire much confidence...
Descriptions are often sketchy as well, claiming anamorphic yet clearly showing a picture of wide.
And none is specifying the original manufacturer, thus leaving the question of quality wide open.
Basically, a very high chance of spending a lot of time and money, and receiving an inferior - or totally wrong - product.
That said, if anybody used any of those and have a positive feedback, I'd be willing to risk it...

I think it might mean waiting, its all still up in the Air now. I think Freewell will make one the Ulanzi model will be in Amazon probably before you get it yourself. So this might give you an opportunity to actually try it out and return if you’re not happy.

Totally. One of the many reasons I use Amazon almost exclusively is the ease of the returns.
