How much of Rotterdam is a no fly zone?
Having flown into Rotterdam many years ago (on a Fokker 50 with VLM) I'm guessing it's all a NFZ / red?

There's a lovely bridge that is about to be dismantled for Jeff Bozo of Amazon...sure would be great to make a drone flight around / under it

On the upside, the locals are now promising to pelt mr. Bozo's boat with eggs if he does get the bridge removed

Just goes to show - if you've got enough money you can do anything you want.  I bet he could even fly a drone there.

Are they not going to rebuild the bridge once the ship is moved out?  Would be sad if they don't.

I think it's just a temporary removal, if I read it right.

The USA news was reporting yesterday they have denied the request to remove the old WW2 era bridge.

Serious paperwork or serious money for sure.  

I guess the more appropriate question to ask is why didn't the shipbuilder consider how to get the mega-yacht out in the first place before the build ever started.  Seems like a bit of p... p... planning.

Agreed, suspect Mr. Bozo may have waved a few $$'s at the shipbuilders. I truly hope he's told to take his money and Foxtrot Oscar!

Think that's the plan, but I understand that it is an elderly bridge, so maybe best left intact.

Maybe megabucks for the shipbuilder, who will be employing folks in the area. They can install wind-turbines at sea, so why not sh=ail the boat out and attach the masts afterwards?

Actually, it might be do-able, the shipyard is South of the main area at Alblasserdam

There's enough space on the periphery? Forecast is for rain and strong winds for the next 7-10 days though....

Well that's one advantage, of course. But surely this problem was foreseen even before the keel was laid?
As you say, float it under the bridge and add the masts elsewhere.

Just been on booking.com and easy jet sites, but by the time you factor in travel to / from hotel and a night in Stansted before the 8am flight out; approaching £500 for 3 nights.
With the weather as unsettled as it is, I'd want two full days to try and get the flight and shot...

In October 29 I visited the ESA for ESTECH although that was at Nordwijk for half that...It would make great footage, but the weather is unsettled at this time of year, 2 days of wind. / rain and a washout...

You cut the side metal out and flatten it out a big and then tape it to the top of the drone.  it blocks the GPS location.

Woah, I never knew that..."stealth mode" does it not affect the transmission to / from the drone, if it's blocking the GPS, then it will block the control signals too? If you'd told me this on April 1st, I'd be even more certain that you were bullsh*tting me

I can only imagine that this mega ship of his is probably close to a 1/4 to 1/2 a billon.  So look at the jobs, the materials, and now the publicity for the city.  Tourism just went up to see that bridge.

I see.  Same thing happened in St Maarten when the mega yacht for Victoria secret couldn't fit.  They built a new one and buried the old one in the ocean for conservation.   I dove there many years back.
