Thans DT,  they seemed to have had a few as they move along the hill,   I was surprised to see them burning in a new spot yesterday.

Yes,   and the scares are from the machines scraping the ground I guess.

They are still clearing the brambles,  slowly they are working their way along the area.

If its like the other areas they have cleared,  they put signs up saying it was for increasing the cattle.   Many years ago it was common to see a Red Poll Cows along there.  Apparently they chose that species (variety because they are warm and good with people,   Im not too sure of that as a herd of them chased me once.

Usually they are not a problem but on that day they ran as a herd. Luckily I was near the railway crossing so could escape.

The trunk much smaller and has a big root system of tangled smaller roots. The fire did not get there.

Nooooo,   Never use a chainsaw on roots.   It will destroy the blade.

It is a very stubborn root system.
Lots of smaller and bigger roots.
But maybe he tries something else, have not spoken to him about it lately.
