Now that the new Transmitter comes with a LIPO battery which we all know has a certain amount of recharges in it --what do we do when it reaches that limit?

Will there be a replacement battery available? Or do we have to buy a new Radio!!!

Seems DJI needs to make one available...

I'm going to stick with my original tx with the 4 penlight batteries until they get a lot of these questions answered.

dont know if DJI have really thought this through with the new controller..  are you going to void your warranty if you have to change the battery by opening up the TX.. come on DJI.. make a list of all the spare parts you have somewhere..

Yes a list of spare parts would be great--also addressing this issue with the new transmitter would be better!

The new controller battery will probably last several years, why worry about it now ?
I would be more concerned about the battery in your phone / ipad / range extender....

Is anyone experiencing this new controller and the 4 LED lights never changing?  Mine always shows 4 full green LED lights as the LIPO battery drains down.

DJI tends to get ahead of themselves in their marketing, it seems. They have a problem bringing mature products to the market.

What do we do about changing the battery in the new transmitter? Cycling it? For that matter, what do we do with the trainer/simulator port?

This transmitter "upgrade" does not seem well thought-out.

Same here--Can't figure it out!!

Will just turning the transmitter on and leaving it on to see if they ever change hurt the transmitter?

Dji really needs to address these new Transmitter Issues and questions!!!

Well as I am still using the AA batteries supplied with the old transmitter in July, you could be in for a long wait......
Or do you think the new LIPO batteries are a much lower capacity ?

Hope that is the case that the new transmitter draws very little power as yours seems to be--

Think I will try turning it on and leaving it on for awhile to see if the lights change--If not then we will kill the LIPO fairly quickly or suffer an unintended Failsafe situation when the battery drops too low or just quits with no warning!!

Think I saw somewhere that it's 2000Mah but not sure..

Yeah you are right, so I just looked it up and the transmitter draws 120ma so that would give 16 hours to fully discharge, not that you would want to let it get that low.

So, you could possibly get about 10 hours flying time on one tx charge.  That's excellent.

And to answer the above question as to if it's worth it..... the tilt dial on the new transmitter is worth that and more! There simply is no comparison, in my opinion, to the 7th channel lever mod on the old controller.

OMG! I am a complete idiot. Note sure why I assumed the 4 green LED lights were a problem. I am charging the remote periodically and not letting it get lower.  Thanks for waking me up folks.     I am down to my last issue and that is whether to upgrade the battery to 2.6.0.0. or not.  Not a big deal.

D'OH!  I suppose this would fall into the category of a BFO -- Blinding Flash of the Obvious, huh?

Well, when I find myself in a situation like this I try to remind myself (apart from any self-inflicted public humiliation) it's only a bad experience if you didn't learn anything.

In hindsight it most likely dropped from 4 to 3 after 8 flights. Still 8 hours on one charge is not bad.  I'll post the number of flights I've recorded after it drops from 3 to 2..

Is this new upgrade to Vers 3 worth the couple hundred extra bucks?

Yes!! I've never owned or flown the original vision however the biggest selling points for me were the more powerful motors and upgraded props. Controlling the tilt of the camera with the transmitter is also a nice feature. I placed the upgraded 9450 props on my fc40 and obtained an additional 1 to 1 1/2 minutes of flight time. In addition the fc40 maneuvers better and flys faster both vertically and horizontally. The only downside is you get slightly more  prop wash when descending and it is a tiny bit more unstable if it is very windy.  BTW I recommend upgrading to the 9450 props if you have the original vision and definitely if you have the the phantom 1 or fc40.

I think it is. Not necessarily for the upgraded transmitter, but likely for the upgraded motors and props, and the scroll-wheel gimbal tilt. I don't think there's anything wrong with the new transmitter, it just appears that it was brought to market prematurely. No means of cycling or at least discharging the battery, no cable for the trainer port, no plug n' play simulator software.

The v3  has more upgrades than the one's listed  they have attempted to fix  the problem of the video  causing sat drop out .Ferrites inside, new cables to camera, and bigger gps sheilding  and they said there were no issues :@.
Never mind  interesting times ahead  as Go pro intend to enter the drone market  soon  the more company's who make them the better they will get .

I agree = the upgrade is worth it.  HOWEVER - my remote power light is now YELLOW - and the drone does not respond at all now.  I updated Firmware and recalibrated and now I have the constant yellow power light on my new Remote. Any ideas??
