Sorry but it seems the Firmware version is still the same (V01.04.0000). In the App the new firmware version is numbered V01.05.0000 and the release note tells "Added support for Japanese RID requirements (requires DJI Fly v1.6.6 or later).

Will this cure the quickshots not locking on to anything issue some android users including me are having. Can't lock on to anything ... no plus sign on screen and drawing round something the box just disappears as soon as you let go of the screen.

I UPDATED the Mini2 today to Version 1.05.0000, and it gave me a few surprises, that changed my findings of my previous post.

  I NOW have Smart Controller with 01.01.0064 software and Mini2 with Aircraft Firmware 1.05.0000 APP Version 1.6.1
When I LAUNCH the craft with the MODE switch in Position S (far right) the time in doing a 360 degree turn is (just under) 4 seconds!  When launched with MODE switch in position
N or P (which is the middle position) it takes 8 seconds to do a full turn.  When launched with the MODE switch in the T or C (far left position),
it takes a full 15 seconds.  Therefore in my circumstances it shows that the position that the MODE SWITCH is in on LAUNCH, (LEFT - CENTER - RIGHT)
IS the operating position UNTIL it is changed via the MODE SWITCH.  By the way, with this Update, the SPORT position really surprised me, it is one speedy little fella,

How right you are!  Also, after updating to the 1.05.0000 in my controller it shows that I STILL have APP Version 1.6.1 and all tests SO-FAR show everything working well.

I'm having trouble doing the first update to the mini 3 with the mini2 controller. When it gets to 80% and it fails code -4000, has anyone experienced this?

The yaw speed for each mode is fully configurable in the App, in the Advanced Stabilization Options, it does not depend on the firmware version. But maybe the firmware update changed the default values.

I updated today, the Mini 2 firmware went to 01.05.0000; but the Fly App on my iPhone 12 pro only updated to 1.6.5.  here in Canada

I unfortunately turned off my drone during the update.  The back light on the drone now gets 3 flashes on power up then begins blinking red repeatedly. Can’t power off using the button and will not connect with the controller. Crap

Bet that is what happened, when the time before update was 8 seconds for the turn, and after the update it was less than 4 seconds.  NOW it really is SPORT compared to before.  Yes, I do know about the adjustments.  Thank you for making note of them though, I forget some things so easily.

This says it does. I'm on version 01.03.0000 on Android and the quick shot locking works fine, just missing the AE lock notification.

At least my lights are working as they should now, they stopped working with the last firmware update!

it's way way quicker?

So I tried to update my firmware yesterday, It said it failed and now my mini 2 won’t work. The light by the battery door is flashing red, And when I go to power it on the 2 outside dots are lit. Can anyone help me?

I just purchased a Mavic Air 2 and it won’t connect with a perfectly functioning iPhone 8 Plus running iOS 15.5.  Firmware on the Mavic is all updated.  Appears to be connected (I can move the camera) but the display on iPhone says not connected to RC.  Works using my iPad Pro and my wife’s iPhone Xr.   My ideas?

Working great for me with latest firmware and android DJI Fly app. Transmission seems slightly improved for video and also control and signal seems to be more stable in the mid-range (3-4 signal bars) - both GPS locking and signal strength level have increased update rates (or at least as they're displayed in the app).

So far so good!

Have a search for DJI assistant 2 on the forum, that should get you back up and running from the failed update

Just to point out that, if you upgrade the app to 1.6.6 (and from IOS you cannot revert back), you are forced to update to the new firmware. In fact, when starting the drone a message "incompatible firmware" appears and it prevents you to fly.
For people running on IOS and not wanting to upgrade the firmware, it's important not to accept the upgrade of the app.

As already shared, the Release news is not "Optimized flight safety", but it is related to the RID requirement from Japan. Based on th other posts, it seems that some bugs have been fixed. I can confirm that the rollback it's not possible.

Someone try it outside in real flight?
Few guys I know having issues with leggy video over the ver before.

I have ver 1.02.0100 (Dec' 2020, also the APP still the same) with ZERO issues - any good in the new versions (MUST have features? good range at the CE? stable?) - for me "If it's not broken - don't fix it" but I will go forward if there are new good features.

i updated mini 2 yesterday and now i have a gimbal calibration error! WTF!!!!!!! ive tried to auto calibrate but does not clear even with powering off the drone. Issue was not present before firmware update. Can anyone shed some light on this????????

I'm still very much a newb with a Mini 2. So, is it possible to update the Mini 2 firmware to 1.05 without updating the DJI Fly app? I'm sort of gun-shy after reading about problems many folks were having with the 1.04 firmware, and want to proceed with caution with any updates. I don't see any advantage to me personally to update the Fly app. Thanks for any insight.

The new firmware and the new version of the app must be used together. I updated the app and I've been forced to update the firmware too. I suppose it is the same for the firmware.

I updated DJI Fly and the drone firmware today.  Did a Compass and IMU Calibration just cause, no special reason.  Flew one battery pack, all seems to be working correctly, no issues, at least for my limited skills.  I am old and slow and just fly Cine mode, all I really need.  Quit after one pack, too hot in central Texas.

I upgraded the firmware and the app few days ago and yesterday I'd some testing. I did not notice any issue nor any improvement vs the 01.04.0000 version.
In particular flying behind a building brings to a similar signal reduction and the same when flying in a zone with a strong interference.
Based on my experience, it seems that the upgrade is quite safe.

Same here. I even used the DJI assistant 2 to manually update both the drone and controller. That went fine but the drone still won’t connect to the controller

I can’t remember the procedure but have  a search on YouTube for manually syncing the controller button combo

I do not know where to post this . But  since the last firmware update I seemed to have lost about 50% of my radio range in my mini 2.
I happen to notice this because Ive been flying in the same location for weeks without any problems until the last firmware update.   The RC issues happens starting around 2800 feet. My RC radio cuts in and out often going  down to 1 bar after 3200 feet distance, I am Flying in a wide open area and line of sight  and no trees blocking my "LOS" when before i could get 6000 plus feet easily before losing any RC radio bars.  
So I went to another favorite flying locations  where I could test my range because i could get the same 6000+ foot RC range , and the test was the same losings about 50% of my RC range,   what could be going on?

Try refreshing the firmware by a laptop or pc. Download dji care comsumer drone series in your laptop. There are also some tutorials in youtube.

Firmware 1.4 detonated with mini 2 bad signal, I updated to Firmware 1.5 did not fix it.  My mini 2 only works on 2.4ghz auto

I uninstalled the DJI-Fly app and then reinstalled it again. Then using DJI assistant 2 on my desktop I reinstalled the firmware updates and everything seems to be better now I was a bit leary . But I was able to get 5.7k  = 3.41754 miles yesterday Over Watauga lake with no issues so that seems to fix my issues I was having with the RC .

Oh I had previouly mentioned it . But if anyone like me like to fly long distances. I seriously recommend the firehouse strobe light mounted on top of the mini2 between the front arms. . you can see that sucker up to 3 miles clearly in any  direction
The Bonus Is !  it also helps keeps birds away.  I got one and when using it I found that the fast pulse works best with it being so bright to act for a bird deterrent    I think it was good to have for someone like me that like to fly miles & miles in the mountain areas to keep that little thing in "LOS"
