Do I read right that the new Phantom 3 standard will have follow me from start and other cool stuff?

Seems like they just announced it! Has (edit: will have) follow me mode, POI, waypoints and 2.7K video at a low price point. Where does that leave the advanced? http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2 ... tware-better-camera

Range seem to be shorter

I don't like the controller that comes with the standard. Reminds me of my Phantom 1 days...

The best news here is the mention of 2.7k I have been waiting for this to appear in the P3P. So looks like it will soon. I will take 2.7k before any gimmiks like POI and Follow me..
And the standard does not have VPS..

The features are coming to pro and adv. the standard also I think does not have vps,

Cannot mind sploodge but does the pro only give us 1080 or 4k ? Nothing in between ? Do we not already have option for 2.7k?

Interesting image.  Where did you get it?  It appears to be an edit of the official version, which makes it clear that the features you describe are not available, but COMING SOON.

No 2.7 on the pro/advanced yet.. But this looks promising of a cheaper version already has it..

no we dont. we have 4096 and 3840 and 1080. no in between

Seems to use wifi instead of lightbridge as well.
Not clear if it has VPS?

Also less fps @ 1080p but 2.7k is nice.

Also no lightbridge on the standard.. Looking at about 1km distance on it.. No GLONASS either, just GPS.. Looks like an updated Vision+ to me.

At $800, it seems to be a more advanced version than the current "Advanced" model.  I wonder what happens to the price of the current P3A?  Plus you get 2 additional mins of flight time.  Could it really be more aircraft for less money?

Wonder if you can use your advanced/pro controller with this model? VPS and controller are main differences I noticed. This may be an option(cheaper?) for those who have pilot error crashes/fly aways and dont want to shell out another 1k (Unless those prices are coming down which I would doubt.)

They dropped the VPS unit (which is where the light bridge sits as well, so that's been dropped.)

Wifi Video, like the P2V+ system, although more range maybe? (only ever got 200-300m from the P2V+)

You won't be able to use a P3A/P3P controller as they are light bridge based.

First conclusion: a bit more camera but less drone in this Standard version.

On the other hand, if the wifi video works well... doubt the majority of pilots ever cross the 1km. (could be wrong)
Same for VPS, apart from the fact you currently have to switch it off anyway, the majority will never use their drone inside. (again could be wrong)

Agree apart from the turning VPS off bit. The new firmware resolved VPS issues.

Okay, so no problem to turn it back on? (even when flying outdoors)

Point remains, if you don't fly inside (like me) you don't really need it...

This is a P2+ with a better camera... Lots of the stuff that makes a P3 a P3 is missing... not too much carried over from the Inspire on this one..

Waypoints, Follow Me, POI!?! These are all great features that I wish were included for the P3A and P3P.  While the range is only half a mile, the features make the difference to me.  Why aren't these features available for the P3A and P3P?

The features of the STANDARD are "Coming Soon" same as the Pro and Advanced. If you purchased one NOW you would still be waiting for POI/Follow Me. Next F/W should have it for Pro/Advanced unless issues popup in testing..

Ahh.  I just saw that.  Got the email this morning and watched the video about the standard--they included  all of the features without mentioning it was coming soon...

Waypoints? What's up with no waypoints on the P3P DJI?

DJI needs to offer those filming modes for the phantom 3 as promised.  It makes me regret my purchase of an advance which doesn't have the flight versatility of a Phantom Visionplus or a Phantom Standard

Curious as to why they would release the P3S, the app and firmware upgrades without it including the new features just for us to do another update hopefully soon...?  The timing is strange.

Keeps you on your toes

Just an observation: the P3P has a flight time of 23 mins, the new P3S gets 25 mins.  (I know there's more bells and whistles on the Pro...and it is ONLY two mins difference...but ...

I flew my p3p just about an hour ago with new fw and confirm that the vps issues are gone, infact I thought signal strength and distance was better I was about 500m plus away with no problems or errors , which I did have just before update. Well done dji, with new fw and app and more features coming like the new standard model we are finally going int he right direction.

On another note with regards to vps outdoors, I think I am right in saying that we keep on to allow auto take off and landing do we not ?

not sure why they classified this as a 3
this is a 2++ at best
