Yes, the Immelmann is a typical fighter plane manoeuvre, but rather than half roll followed by half inside loop, the Immelmann is composed of half inside loop with half roll on top. An alternative is integrating the half roll in the middle resulting in a ¼ inside loop followed by ¼ outside loop. However, when flying towards an object prior to a dive, the inverted version is quite handy to get close but at the same time avoiding to hit the object as the props will pull you away and halt the drone's momentum in the initial direction.

It's quite intricate, isn't it. Not something I'm ever likely to practice - I'll stick to straight and level droning.
And if I get shot down  - so be it

Thanks! Yes, the closer the better - but some practice required to avoid complete train wreck. So far so good, only one set of propellers pluss some scratches on the hood until now :-)

Thanks a lot! Still practising after recent move from camera drone to to FPV. The flying is much more rewarding, but the footage is suffering with the DJI FPV set-up. Still possible to get acceptable and much more dynamically intereresting results in post with a bit of tweaking in FCPX :-)
