Why does my Phantom 2 Vision+ (v2) box say it can shoot at 1080i 60fps, and form what I can tell in the vision app, it can not?

Here I was thinking I was shooting in 1080/60.....

You are right-It actually cannot and it is misleading. 1080i is an interlaced format and it is shooting 60 half frames which give you actually 1080x 30 full frames.  There's lies , damn lies and marketing!!!!note: when I say half frames I mean every other line is missing and the two frames are played backed together like a comb.

Never mind. I think I found my answer, in that it is filming 30 fps but interlaced, so actually 60 fps.

Hi Tony, if you shoot at 720/60p you will actually get a better playback for modern TVs as the interlaced setting is only required for the old type analogue TVs.  I use a lot of mixed format as a professional videographer and can assure you , that you will get a better result as there will be no frame dropping/blending to make  a 1080I playable on modern equipment.

I am also a videographer and agree that 720p60fps may be a better solution in many cases. But with the P2V+ I find that sometimes the props appear in the top of the frame and I need to crop them out. So I like to shoot in 1080 so I can at least maintain a 720 resolution in the final edit. I was really hoping to find out that 1080 had a 60fps option. But I am not at all interested in dealing with the issues that arise in interlaced setup when filming something fast moving, or when panning.
