As I was getting ready to launch my quad copter today, I was observing the storms in my area. There was a cell west of me that produced this strange sight. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before. Eventually, I got a drone shot of this mature storm.

Astonishing cloud formation for sure.

Well, it was very late in the afternoon with another storm west of here. The dark blue sky area, I think, is actually shadow in the midst of a setting sun with clouds in the way. It’s the strangest cloud formation I’ve ever seen here. Thanks to all for your comments.

Thank you. Hurricane season is upon us so I’m practicing up for a chance of severe weather. I tread the fine line for photo/filming T-storms, just in time to catch their beauty, but quick enough to get down before their outflow boundary (gust front) arrives.

Yep I can imagine the pucker factor involved there

Timing is everything in photography. This same storm “blew up” about 5 minutes later. As it approached the contrast index dropped significantly.

Thanks for viewing.

Here is one from myself where the chemtrail of the plane caused shadow in front of it.

That’s a unique photo too. I wonder if the pilots of the other plane see the shadow too. Hey airline pilots, help us out here.

Is it a Cumulonimbus cloud?  If so apparently they are high on electrical interference and not good for us drone flyers

All thunderstorm clouds are dangerous because of lightning and terrific winds. Also be cautious when a storm is approaching because lightning reaches out ahead of a storm and can zap you in clear air too.
