A reputable reviewer says that 10 bit is coming in a FW update - is that true?  I hope that DJI can promise that, as the GoPro 11 is making a lot of noise about having 10 bit at the outset and that's turning heads online.

[And if 10 bit can be added to the Action 3 then maybe it could be added to the Action 2 as well, as they seem to have a lot in common inside].

Also just heard that 10 bit will come in October in a update.

I’ve heard the 10-bit comments, but not seen anything about gyro data.  Not including gyro would be a big miss!  Hopefully they also implement both gyro and 10bit across all resolutions, FOVs, and frame rates instead of a few restrictive modes.  

I’ve heard that 10bit on the new GoPro is also limited to only certain modes.  Not sure if it’s true and if so if most actually understand that.

Hi there, Osmo Action 3 supports only 8bit videos at the moment.

Actually, the hardware already supports 10bit color depth, that is, the front and rear screens can display 10bit video and the processor supports related decoding.

At present, our engineers are working on it and testing to add 10bit HDR video in the future firmware. Please wait patiently, thank you for your support and understanding.

we do not want to know when it will come, we all want to know it will support Realsteady  Electronic Image stabilization that the  latter could not do!  and if we are to again get  a standard, high and Boost in it as well.

I have heard some say gyro will be implemented and yes I expect 10 bit will come with some limitations. There have been many good practical improvements and the price will help that it won’t have all go pro 11 has but I expect it to be more reliable. They say the best camera is the one you have with you, but you also need to be able to depend on it. I’ve only had 2 GP’s but both were prone to freezing and some app problems.

Yes, I still use my original Action more than my GoPro of the same vintage due to the freezing issue of the GoPro.

I really do hope they implement Gyro data and 10-bit on a wide variety of modes.

I believe DJI has to put gyro data and 10 bit into videos or GoPro will continue to dominate.
So I hope DJI is keen to re-establish a balance with the competition.
Not doing it with the DJI FPV was already a huge mistake.
On average a stabilization in post production will always be better than one in real time.

Well 10 bit colour is nice to have for me, not critical, but without gyro data it's a complete no-starter. Whilst the in camera stabilisation might be good, it doesn't necessarily work well in all circumstances.

If the these updates aren't here by the time the GoPro Hero 11 mini comes out, I think I'll just buy the GoPro. As otherwise it could end up like the Action 2. Loads of people asking for gyro data and DJI not giving a damn.

OA3 have higher bitrate than Gopro 10, 114 Mbit/s vs 99 Mbit/s shot in 4K.

And I can't wait for getting 10 bit colors (in October).

In my opinion 10 bit and D-Cinelike color profile are an absolute must have, because the current colors of the OA3 are not very accurate from what I saw on YouTube ... over saturated grass and cyan or polarized looking skies can be seen in nearly every footage.

Colorwise the GoPro 11 is also not perfect (slightly blueish), but more natural, than the DJI for my taste.

I have an Action 2 which I use with the DJI FPV, even if the dynamic range on the Action 2 is worse than on the FPV's camera. But the stabilization is better, and more important, it has a wider FOV.
So with this in mind, yes, 10 Bit Color would be helpful, especially if GoPro now ships their 11 with it. But more important in my opinion is to fine tune the Action 3's (and Action 2's) D-Cinelike profile for a little bit more lattitude in dynamic range.
For now I tend to buy a GoPro 11 to use with my AVATA for that reason, even if I not really want to, for a  ot of other reasons. And I'm really happy with the Action 2 usability. So I will hold back to the end of October to see, what DJI is able to deliver.

I do hope they sort out that focus issue. I've noticed this to be an issue just recording simple vlog from arm's length. After transferring the video to my iPad Pro for a quick edit, I've noticed that the background is more in focus than I am. I can correct it to a point by increasing sharpness/clarity, but there are clearly ( no pun intended) limits to this solution.

I did a side by side comparison with my GoPro Hero 9 and did not see the same issue, so this appears to be Osmo Action 3 related. I've since switched back to using my GoPro Hero 9 until DJI is able to resolve this through a recall or a firmware update

todays newest laptops may only show 8-bit so yeah is it going to be a game changer when we get a 10-bit camera. wbut  gopro is already with one, DJI again falls short , November is here, maybe by Feb 2023 we will see it.  no one here wants to hear check the official site for the answeer

Until there is an official statement, just assume like the gyro data, it's not ever coming. Curious who said something to the Youtuber reviewers as on launch day, most of them mentioned the 10bit and gyro data update.

It allows a much wider range of colours to be recorded in more detail so the main advantage is when editing e.g lifting shadows or puling highlights back in the original footage then can export a final file potentially with better quality - admittedly if you don't do much beyond cut bits out it won't matter much
