The more I fly the mini 3 pro, the more I appreciate the way it flies, holds itself in heavy wind and the nice footage it delivers.
Today I noticed again that it also, very consistently, has a nice and controlled touchdown.
It always sets itself on the ground backside (bottom?) first.

I take it to protect the gimbal.

It really is a nice touch(down)!

It does   But I've taken to hand-catching mine now.

Thanks for that info Hannibal.    I was wondering how well it landed with those stubby feet.  I live on a large boat so I've always hand launched/recovered the Mini 3 and never had to land it anywhere else.  I hope I didn't just jinx myself.  

I think i have landed it twice now and it does have a nice landing. I do however very much prefer to hand catch.

I find the touchdown very controlled, as said.
Is it just that you are all custom to hand catch drones, or did you all have bad experience like Daflys?

Not particularly uneven,  and a spot Ive landed Mini2 and Mavic 3 many times without any issue.  

Hand launch and hand catch here as well. However, the landing is really smooth, I agree.

No it seemed to be a balance issue,  as the props powered off it tipped forward.

In retirement I bought what is termed a mini-yacht that I live on.  So now if I want to change the scenery I can  just get underway as I desire.

I must admit that I tend to find a take-off spot nearby that is even and clean.

If I don’t find that, hand catching (and take off) is the next option

If I have the hard case for the Mini3Pro with me, that makes a useful platform to take off from. But I'd still rather hand catch the landing rather than risk tipping the drone over the edge of the case as it comes down - particularly on uneven or sloping ground.

It was a dream I had many, many years ago so I established a financial goal and set up what I figured would be the best financial plan to reach that goal.  Took many years but the wise investments and compound interest and time finally paid off.  It's definitely not a super sized yacht but for sure fits my needs.

Always nice to get presents for our toys, especially the drones.

When I take the soft Flymore case, it's more problematical.
But the battery charger is just about big enough to use as a launchpad - provided a flat enough piece of ground is available. Otherwise the drone just slides off it

I think it is really easy to land it on the hand. So there is no need for me to risk the landing on a small space. Sometimes the landing on the hand is not possible, so it is more a grabbing with the hand which is also quiet easy: you just have to grab it from the rear, as there is no obstacle avoidence then :-)

That's my method, then a quick flick onto its back to stop the motors.

Thanks for the "q.e.d." (quot erat demonstrandum)- that reminds me of my school time. Just a few days ago my daughters told me that the do not learn this anymore. What a shame, even more as they both learned Latin in school....

Haha, yes.
At school (half a Century ago!!) We had to demonstrate the method for our workings in MAths and Chemsitry, and end the page with Q.E.D.

Speaking of boats, due to Hurricane Ian I had to get my mini-yacht underway and I am about 150 NM east of the Florida coastline now.  Will probably go at least another 50-75 NM today.  Nothing but miles of ocean to look at for the next few days.

Plenty of time for meditation.  Last night I could see the lights of other boats/ships in the distance but fore the most part I'm all alone.
