NVIDIA has announced a recall of its SHIELD tablets, sold between July 2014 and July 2015. NVIDIA has determined the battery in these tablets can overheat and pose a fire hazard. As part of this recall, NVIDIA will be replacing the tablet. Here are more details:

This recall affects most of the 58,000 Shield 8 tablets sold.  I have applied for the replacement.  Says it will take 2-4 weeks to receive a replacement.

I notice that Amazon, New Egg, BestBuy...  Etc have all pulled the item from stock.  Even the Nvidia Store says "Out of Stock".  Too bad.  It's just about the fastest tablet you can buy.
