I can never get my drone to fly further than 500m from me before the video cuts out. No matter what the angle of the antennas, channel of radio, etc.

I am going to take apart this damn remote and look at the signals one and a time to see if I am getting the advertised output power from the remote and the drone itself. I might also add some amplifiers to further increase the power.

It has been frustrating!

Android/Apple device in airplane mode?

Its strange but i read that all the time, ppl get over 5000m in CE mode and some only 1300m max. 500m is definately awful, i would send it in

Yes, IOS in airplane mode. There is no interference. The video just stops. Its not like the RSSI gradually decreases. It just stops at around 500m.

did you try lowering the incoming video quality on the app?

this is my stock drone, in italy european version, no mod, no booster, all standard, i post you a pic just to show

It may be a defect in the WiFi radios.  I know we believe all products sent are perfect BUT...

Did you ever figure anything out on this? I having the same problem. 500m max in any direction and I lose video. I have also tried all the typical steps.

iOS....do you have the latest DJI GO app udate? A thought?

If it is on IOS 9 this could be the reason. IOS 9 (with the recent DJI app) has awful video stability compared to 8.x version. It can lag, can stop and continue after delay no matter the distance.
P.S. It's a shame for DJI or Apple or both that things like this happening... There were 3 months of betatesting for polishing the App-OS interaction.
