Thought I would practice today on an unopened road.
Lifted up and start full forward and up. Well I thought it was up but moved down,quick recovery and shot up and away.
Almost bit the dust!

Get an inexpensive drone for "practice"

Syma X5C-1 is perfect.

Learning on the Phantom can be a costly mistake.

get used to the controls by using the simulator first...

you should also consider having a check flight as soon as you lift off to ensure that all controls are working correctly. make sure you do it between 10-15ft though...

Why are you flying over a road? you should be in the field next to it.  The controls are easy enough to get used to but do your practice at a good height.  When I fly RC planes and have a new aircraft i always would fly  at height that would allow for a couple of mistakes. Go slow and use a light touch on the controls. Just a fyi though this type of RC should not be your first RC .

This road is not used yet as it does not connect to the feeder road.
It is our local hang out for many RC pilots.

Oh ok. Thought you were just cruising up and down a road. I would use the road to take off then fly over the field though.
