Here you can see how good DJI Osmo Action 3 is with night timelapse and northern lights. For sure it is a big step up to any DSLR cameras, but it can obviously be used for night timelapse.
And it was around -13c, it recorded for almost 2,5 hours and still 38% battery left. I thought it was empty long time ago, but it was still recording while I picked it up.

Great performance from the little camera. Spectacular viewing.

I really am.
But I will make better timelapses with it, and not only outside my house like I did here. Since it was mostly to test out the batterylife in the cold

We had so much northern lights here this winter, and I saw they had a lot in Alaska also.
You should travel up north for a week

It’s amazing really what these tiny cameras can produce in such low light situations. Even the stars are properly there! Over the Timelapse, you can see that they are moving to the right and down.

Yeah, I have seen many people wanting to get a glimpse.
No guarantees, so that is a 'thing'.

I live almost as far north you can come in Norway, northern most county.

There is always a chance that there will be cloudy or even snowfall so no chance of seeing anything.
And travelling in theese times is expensive.

Yeah, it will be quite the undertaking. Especially during winter times.
That will take us about 3 days to even get there by car (and 3 to drive back).
If everything runs smoothly of course.
I'm quite sure this won't happen.

It will probably takes longer to drive on winter roads up north.
It's actually cheaper to take a plane and so much faster and pleasent

I think you are right about that.
We'll have to see as I'm not very happy about taking the plane on short trips.
