Went to have a little flight from the Beach today and it was very windy but the sand was very flat as tide was going out.

On start up I got Gimbal Jammed error and Gimbal over load...... Could not understand this and it happened 3 times. So did not take off

Took the Drone to a place of shelter from the wind all switched off and moved the gimbal about gently and it was stiff in the upward direction. On applying a very small amount of pressure I heard a faint click and saw a single grain of sand drop out from between the housing and the gimbal arm attachment. It had been blown in by the very strong wind. Switched on again and all fine with no error messages.

Did not fly as I felt this was a sign lol.

Moral is you dont want sand anywhere near your deligate parts..... !!!!!!!

good to know.  i too have been known to cancel any further flights for the day whenever i get that "sign" or a certain feeling.  it's almost as if i am being told you shouldnt be flying today.  happens sometimes. trying to get everything setup and nothing is working right so pack it in.

Always best to hand launch and catch at the beach.

Good reminder when around the beach and other sandy locations.  I always hand launch and recover which helps to avoid grit getting in delicate places.

Good Idea but not to keen on hand launching the bigger more powerful drones

It really isn't any different.  Just dont try to nudge launch.   I made that mistake once with the Mavic 2 pro,   luckily I was able to get the left stick up quick enough.

Yes that word mistake. I have read about and seen far to many disasters associated with hand launching. I know many do it but not for me. I always find other ways
