Youtube can host your 360 spheres....


Discovered this as a bit of an accident.  Youtube can host the 360 making it embedable, and easily shared.  

Not the best 360 Ive taken but as a test it would suffice.




Taken with a lighty used Mini 3 Pro.

That final blend isn't the best,  but that might have been my processing of it.    First test,  more to come.

Me neither,   it came about as Monty was experimenting with a 360 camera and showed me a sample,  thenI remembered how FCPX wanted to convert my project.  so voila.

I haven't read the comment so i push play and nothing was changing 11 min static video. And i was wondering what i am missing? And then i read the comments

It does indeed work. Why does it run for almost twelve minutes though?

Thats how long I set the video to,   if you set it too short YouTube finished showing it and puts up the queue cards.

No worries,  it's a nice little javascript plugin for viewing them but you do need to host it yourself somewhere.

Back to skypixel then

I posted a few 360° videos on YouTube a few years ago - my Mountains channel stuff rather than drone/air stuff - and the viewer seems to work pretty well.

I'd never have thought of YouTube for stills, though.

It works really well with a VR headset or Cardboard for that immersive feeling so that would probably also work for the 360 photos.

It came about as I discovered that you can take a still and have it move around like you were panning it for the person watching.  But then I discovered this,  Not sure what I'll use it for yet.

The ski lift was a bit sketchy for me.   I dont like heights like that.

Yeah, that lift was always a good one to take people on without warning them

It used to be a really old rickety wooden thing as well which added to the fear factor - not quite as scary these days, but still takes people's breath away.

I also uploaded the rest view of that as part of a Zoom background for people to use in meetings etc...

Looks like I have to spend some time reading the manual. Apparently there's all sorts of stuff in there .

Yes you do and if its too short the cue cards appear.

Its just how Final Cut converts an image into a film with a long duration.
