Hello, I am sure this problem has been adressed many times, but i need help.

My quadcopter:

1000mm frame 6.2kg AUW
kde 3520-400kv motors
kde uas55 esc's
t-motor 17x5.8 propellers
16000mah 6s
Wookong-m

Whatever i do, i cannot get the ship to keep altitude.
Flying slowly forwards it will drop hight slowly.
Flying fast and letting go of the stick it drops a huge amount and i have to throtle compensate.

I tried so far:
Gains, all the way (250)
Mounting imu backwards
Returning to default and configuering the wookong from scratch
Mounting a shield over the imu with foam to reduce any (if) propwash

No other errors ocour, gps and compass calibrates fine every time.

did you tried 16" Props, maybe your motor is to slow (torque) with the big Props and the reaction to power up rev's to hold altitude

an 4014 380-400KV have more torque, but the same trust at 50% for 6,2kg, on our quad with 5kg an 4014 400kv is to week,
we are now at 6,4kg with 4x U7 engines 18x6 Props

Hello Ducpeter

The thought has passed my mind. But these motors has plenty of torque for the 17"
if i counteract with my own thr controll the craft stays afloat so there is something with the controller that makes it sink.

We are going upp to the 5215's and 18x6 over the winter, but even so the issue should be adressed.

Ok, so the naza can keep controll of this quad but not the imensly  more costly wookong!?

Come on dji time for some solutions.
Ohh and why the hell do i have to send in my imu if it for some reason needs a calibration!?
Booth the naza and the a2 has this option in firmware. This is just bullshit!
Release a new firmware, i dont care for new additions, just fix what should have been there from the start.
