Hello

I have a set of aerial photos taken by the camera of the Phantom 3 that I want to use to produce a point cloud.

The software that I use demands de real size of the sensor: the length and the width (in mm) or the lenght of the diagonal of the sensor (also in mm).

Can anyone help me be providing me values? In the photos the model of the camera is identified as FC300X

Best regards

In Imperial it says 1/2.7 inches.  I think this is diagonal.

It is a Sony EXMOR 1/2.3” with effective pixels/photosites of 12.4 megapixels (total pixels are 12.76, but all do not get processed in jpeg compression - RAW, I do not know). The sensor is 6.16mm wide and 4.62mm high.
The maximum created still image size is 4000 pixels wide by 3000 tall on both the Professional and the Advanced.
Also, the field of view is 94°, and it has a 20mm equivalent f2.8 fixed lens.
So, there ya go.

Can you tell us what your point cloud project is? What is the software - expensive? Sounds neat.

Hi

The software is the free open source Micmac, developed by IGN (http://www.ign.fr/)

Thank you (and also to all the other authors)

That's all great information AerialLens.  I just got a request from a mapping company for the actual size of each pixel element.  Do you know this or where I can find it. Evidently, it's to "Calibrate the Lens" of the DJI Phantom 3 Professional for super accurate mapping results.

Thanx so much!

Hello everyone! I´m trying to find out what the P3P camera sensor width is. I can see there are different opinions on this post.
I found Exmor datasheets online and always give diagonal dimmension of the sensor (7,81 mm for both IMX117CQT and IMX078CQK Sony Exmor sensors). If sensors are square then the width is straithforward diag/sqrt(2). Nevertheless, I see some of you are giving other dimmensions. Maybe Aerial Lens or axidify could explain where to find the information of how to obtain the dimmensions that provide.

Thanks!

you get that resolution with your eyes closed. Fly at 200 ft AGL and get less that 3 inches RMSE
