A while back I started a thread about my M3 not being stable at all. Just dancing, hovering up and down without touching the controller.

Today I had the bright idea to calibrate all, did the compass first and after that I wanted to calibrate the IMU.

It keeps failing every time, I upgraded all firmware, still keeps failing. I have restarted, looked on the web for solutions, been doing every step like explained but it juist keeps failing.

It "hangs" during calibration on 94% and after a while I only get the message "calibration failed" , not even an error code.

Place the aircraft on a flat, dry surface as shown (pointing left) Keep the aircraft powered on and do not start motors. How hard can this be....

So now what? What else can I do?

Opening a support ticket sounds like a good safe idea. A faulty IMU is risky. It is a vital component.

Doesn't the app tell you to change orientation at intervals?

I did find some error codes:

IMO not calibrated: code 30055
Sensor error, restart aircraft,  code: 163001C, 1610004A
IMU initialization failed, recalibrate IMU, code: 16100018
IMU calibration required. Calibrate IMO, code 16100018

that is quite some list

and also this:

all lights front and back, solid red: critical error

so weird, the M3 was fine until I decided to calibrate it, since then, misery

Your craft will tell you if it needs calibration. You can also check the status of your IMU in the app .

The OP finds the drone is not stable, Now there is a solid red. I believe it is urgent not to wait for the app to show a notification about the IMU.

The calibration must pass, notification or not. It's not normal that it stops at 94%.

There are many reasons drones will become unstable. Regarding IMU you will get a warning if there is a problem. You can also check the stability of the IMU in the app. If you dropped the drone crashed it etc by all means carry out an IMU. And yes you should be able to complete the IMU calibration, not completing in this case does not mean there is a problem with the IMU.

IMU "Inertial measurement unit" .

As far as I see it, IMU calibration on a level surf as a reference for a level stationary hover. From there the craft responds predictably to flight commands.  It also likely measures any sensor noise and thermal drift so that these technical imperfections are accounted for when using IMU sensor data in flight. - this is likely why there must be no vibrations during the calibration process.

Bad IMU calibration could cause drift and attitude issues as the flight controller fights to hold the craft in what it thinks is the correct attitude as opposed to the correct physical attitude.

The IMU usually has 2 types of sensors – angle and acceleration and in turn 3 sensors of each type measuring in the X,Y and Z axis. These sensors can, through vibration, aging, impact etc, drift in their response over time and thus an IMU calibration will establish a new reference for the IMU’s level/stationary state that the flight controller can work with to restore stable flight  control-0

Think of calibration as the bringing back into line the measured craft attitude with the true physical craft attitude.

As to how often an IMU calibration is needed, Refer to your manual ; certainly after any impact or if there are suspicions the craft can’t hover in a level attitude in a windless environment.ace updates a table of values the flight controller.

I have send the M3 to DJI but with the RC pro controller which I bought seperatly. Meaning, that wasn't the controller the M3 came with originally.

I sure hope they send it back with the same controller and not a regular one?

Thank you for your response. Yes, once you send your drone with your DJI RC PRO, they will surely send it back with the same package that you sent to us. You may also provide us with your case number via PM so I can check your existing repair case to make sure. Thank you.

Hi!
Unfortunately i crashed my Inspire 1.
After fixing all parts, it now wants a IMU Calibration.
After 2% it gets stuck and says "System temperature too low"
Can someone help me with this?
