In Carlsbad, Ca. at the beach a man threw a shirt at a drone flying over and knocked it down.  The pilot said he was flying fairly
high but then said the drone was landing when when it got hit.  Ten min. later the guy was arrested, but no charges were filed.
Read the comments, lot of angry people out there that think they're entitled to privacy on the beach.

My skank a$$ neighbor ran onto my property and swatted my bird with a sweatshirt. I pressed charges but the court refused to find probable cause…..as it turns out I found her family is related to the Commissioner. So now my only recourse is to cut and remove every branch, twig, leave that is encroaching my property line. She refused to compensate me for it so I said what I was going to do for retribution and yesterday when I was mowing the lawn I noticed the boundary pins had been moved….I have a survey team coming out on friday….can't wait, I'm going to more enjoyment out of mutilating the trees than reimbursement because probably more than 60% of the girth is over the line.     I ail have the last laugh !!

Do people like this also swat at everyone with a camera at the beach that is taking their pictures or shooting video clips with cell phones and digital cameras.  How about the underwater photos and videos people can now take with inexpensive digital cameras that are waterproof.  Do they feel violated?

People get mad that their privacy is violated but what about the cameras, phones with cameras, Go Pros etc. and cars with cameras?
Also, I have had neighbors ask (luckily in a nice manner)why I was over their house. They live a block away. I was directly over my front yard. They can see it clearly from their home and assume it is directly over their house. I usually invite them to see what I see on the phone/tablet and realize it isn't as intrusive as they believe. They get more (but not live) detail from Google Maps when I am up 100+ feet.
I find it important to show and tell as many as possible so they are educated, not just opinionated.

yup I went to Airport Commission meeting last night…after I told they were ignorant and corrected them on 49 U.S. Code 40103, and Bill # H.R. 658 in regard to Public Law 112-95 sec 336 and AMA guild lines they tried ti shut me down and said we are going to what WE want and think should be done. Out of the 4 clatagories and 6 subcategories the FAA designates hrs is one up from the bottom, with no operating control tower nor facilty.

These people are idiots, I wish they realize they are on camera everywhere they go, more invasive then someone flying 100ft in the air. Luckily I wasn't there I may have strangled him with his own shirt! Ignorance is a virtue.

Here in the SF Bay Area, there are cameras on almost every stoplight and freeway lightpole for 50 miles in every direction...if you drive HWY 880 in the East Bay, they have one of those hi-res bullet cams posted up on a pole every 3 miles.  I've seen one of these cameras up close...they are capable of seeing your license plate (or your face) clearly from over a mile away...And people think that drones invade their privacy!! ha ha ha

With all due respect to the OP, I'm not sure I would want 4 razorblades spinning over the heads of my children. Come on people... If we don't stop flying these things in populated areas, we are going to be regulated out of the sport/business. And I don't think someone shooting video from a cell phone at the beach is the same as flying a UAV less than a hundred feet over my head.

Although, I probably would have called the authorities myself, if someone would have caused damage to my P3. But I also would have tried to find a less populated area in which to land.

Obviously I agree with everything said here.  My only question is, have you ever tried throwing a t-shirt into the air at a windy beach?  It can't go more than 15-20' high at best.  He must've been flying pretty low at some point, unless he was landing which I might have missed cause about half way through the video I was starting to get really pissed off and not "actively listening" like I should have been.  LOL

Well, I feel for the guy.  But if he really relies on his P3 for his business, he should probably have a back-up quad, maybe two.  I don't know any professional photographers who rely on only one camera for their entire livelihood.  This way the guy can continue with his small claims court while continuing to make money - cause with the way this hysteria is growing, he needs to get a lawyer before someone tries dragging his character through the mud as being some sort of pervert taking photographs of children.  A lawyer would be able to shut down that noise immediately.

Ugh, imagine the type of drone-hating, paranoid anti-child pornography hate mail that guy's' gonna get for years.  That's why I just stay away from the general public - "the righteous mob mentality" - when flying.  Just not worth it.
