Update and Edit from my OP.

I have achieved a successful Compass Calibration as comfirmed by the LED indicators. However, in the App, in the Compass Calibration section.... "Calibrate" is still highlighted, and when I access the "?" button, it suggests a fresh calibration. Is this just a standard reminder, regardless of the success of the calibration process?

Second part of the problem is lack of GPS reception. My location is a know good spot... my Phantom 2 had no problem quickly locking onto GPS.

Not so with the P3P.

I will venture a guess. These devices are not plugged in, inside the shell.

Seriously, the symptoms you describe are identical to what I had on a DJI F550. I subsequently discovered I was not plugged-in to my NAZA flight controller; on that aircraft, it was easy to see the problem and both the GPS and the compass happen to be in the same unit/wiring terminal.

While these are (I think) separate devices on the P3, maybe they share something that is simply not connected. A P3 "surgeon/anatomical specialist" will hopefully chime in here.

Hey AerialLens..... I agree with your hunch so far as a hardware connection issue. I did sneak in and update my OP. I was successful with the compass calibration, but still no GPS.

the highlighted does not mean it needs to recalibrate, that is what u click on to calibrate compass.

If P2 locked......P3 should SUPER lock. I would only get 7-10 with P2, now I get 16 on P3. I'm thinking GPS malfunction or is unplugged. Sorry for the bad news.

I popped the lid, checked the connections... all good. Things seem to point to a faulty GPS module. Good grief, this is my second go 'round having exchanged my first P3P. Two choppers and not a single second of flight time.

Thank God DJI doesn't make medical equipment.

Thanks rayrokni.... between the "highlighted" calibrate button and the prompt from hitting the "?", I was interpreting it as an instruction to recalibrate.
