Should I have gotten closer?

You are close enough, any closer then there will be air disturbance that might make your phantom shake and get blurry video, i noticed your aspect ratio is out of whack in the video.

Can you tell us more about sound recording ?

Please help with me with this. I am new to video editing and YouTube posting. I used photoshop to edit and exported video with YouTube preset in Photoshop.

1080p should translate to 1920 x 1080 and 720p is 1280 x 720 , so in your case best bet is 1080p, in photoshop when saving the video save it as the 1080p resolution, any other resolution combination either would look fat or skinny or not optimal.

Fix it and then repost it here in this thread.

I was wondering how you had sound without hearing the props.  Good way of tricking viewers.  I would have like seeing you fly over the train in the opposite direction, but overall it was nice.  Thanks for sharing.

My secondary hobby is taking pictures of  the graffiti on the trains. Some of those pictures are interesting art work. Most are crap.

These are my options for rendering in photoshop. I used the Youtube HD 1080p 29.97. Which one do you recommend I should be using?

1080p. I started using 1080p because my laptop could not handle the 4K video. It was choppy and slow. I don't know how many people have 4K monitors to appreciate the 4K quality.

OH yeah thats what i am talking about try in 16:9 , as the one selected as 1.0 is square so your input video is wide screen and gets re-positioned as square and that when you get the effect of everything skinny.

Willie, I render the video with aspect 16.9 and now I see a black frame around the video. Is this correct?

I hope someone else can chime in, I'll try to test the same thing on photoshop on my end but I never use photoshop for video.

Well, from a regular guy, I think it was EPIC!
And at exactly the right distance for great composition. Very good!
Also, that is the l-o-n-g-e-s-t freight train I have ever seen, even with two locomotives!

Well i took a video file from the phantom and made it render at 1080p youtube and it came out fine, so i am not sure why is it coming out like that, maybe restart the the application and import again and just try a tiny clip and see if it comes out fine,  when you play the original phantom video file it shows ok ?

Willie, can you please check my YouTube channel and let me know if you see the same problem you are referring to on the other videos? This will tell me if the problem you are seeing is only with the train video. I don't see the problem you are seeing but maybe I don't know what to look for. Here is my channel:

Thanks Hunter, I was lucky to find a sound clip long enough for the video. I trimmed about 2 minutes off the sound to make it match.

Nice job, good composition!  Should you have gotten closer?  I don't know if I'd have gotten closer.  I've read too many reports of compasses being thrown off by metal and there's a heck of a lot of iron down there!

For settings I would have used the preset HD 1080p 29.97 and set the aspect to square pixels. Although the YouTune 1080p setting with square pixels would be fine as well. I think you will find a smaller filesize and therefore lower quality rendering using the YouTube setting.

Your 16:9 aspect ratio comes from the width being 1920 and the height being 1080, not the pixels being square or otherwise. 16 by 9 simply means that for every 16 pixels across, there are 9 pixels up and down. The smallest screen size you can have with a 16:9 aspect ratio is sixteen across and 9 up and down. 32 pixels by 18 pixels is also a 16:9 ratio, and so on. I believe if you use anything other than square pixels, you are stretching the video out to fill a space. You don't need to do this. The space is filled properly as the YouTube screen is already sized to fit 1920 pixels X 1080 pixels. The camera shoots with square pixels so changing that will only alter your original footage in some way.

That's my experience anyway.

Willie, I have looked at the video on multiple screens. I have a desktop with two monitors. One 4K monitor with resolution at 3840x2160 and the other monitor is set to 1920x1200, a laptop with resolution set at 1200x800, iPad and iPhone 6 and I don't see what you are reference. What setting do you have on your monitor?

LOL i don't know what to tell you, call me crazy or a nut job but i do find that train little too skinny, just like when you go in the circus and be in front of the mirrors that make you look skinny or fat.

You know what i am nuts lol if everybody says its ok then its ok.
