Could I use a Phantom Naza controller in a different quad? I'm assuming it is a stand alone unit, any reason I couldn't?

You can move your Phantom Naza to other multirotor as long as the PCB frame board is matched. (Please check P.6 of this manual http://download.dji-innovations. ... _Guide_v1.26_en.pdf).
