Preparing for Ride London.

The town is on lockdown preparing for the start of Ride London,  they love me as they had to move the barriers so that I could deliver shopping to the MIL.

I'll post these and tag the local town and see if they get a feature.

Taken with Mini 3 Pro.

Wow, amazing shots DA.    I'm assuming this is a major event that will draw thousands of cyclists.  No doubt there will be a mega amount of spectators on hand to view the event.

I got curious about that also so did a little research.  "The event opens up eight miles of traffic-free roads in the city centre."

Benfleet is a lot more than 8 miles from London centre though. Maybe they're offroad for some of the route.

Or, once again the news media didn't verify the information before they published it online.

Or maybe it's just an 8-mile circuit and they do multiple laps to make the distance.

Cool shots.
A town with minimal pot holes, that's what I like to see. Are you sure it's in the UK?

A big effort they've put in there but Giro has ended so looks like your village is next in line DAF.
I notice that you even managed to squeeze in a few cyclist in the last shot for authenticity.

There are three lengths for this stretch,  60, 80 or 100 I think I read.     From the footage I saw they were certainly moving at speed.

Yes,  it's a big event,   and stretches for 100 miles so the spectators can spread out a bit.

Could well be but wouldn't that get a little boring after a couple of laps and still seeing the same scenery?

I was thinking the same thing.

I ended the day today by BBQing a nice side of pork ribs that I had marinated in a beer sauce overnight and paired that with a loaded baked potato.  They turned out really tasty.  Not bad for a self taught cook.

Now I just need to go for a long walk in the morning to work off all those calories.

It was sponsored by Ford this year and the amount of cars they supplied was quite impressive.

Well after all Ford is a major corporation and can well afford to sponsor major events.  Unfortunately, their EV division reported a huge loss in the last 2 quarters but it is propped up by the gasoline models.

Yes, the activity necessary to balance the calories is the trade-off

We watched the last hour of the womens' race - a Dutch lass won it.  But they didn't go anywhere near Benfleet.

Had a great dive on that sunken ship.  No gold coins or jewelry but all in all some interesting sights of the old 1700s era ship.  I'm going to take my underwater metal detector on the next trip to that location.

An interesting event to film for sure. And seems like you will get a great coverage in the view.

When I had the local community college's bicycle trip, I tested the Pocket 2 and my cheap action camera to film the ride, and I have to say that the Pocket 2 performed phenomenally with a chest mount and the proper stabilization mode (Tilt Lock worked the best for me). I don't think I can put that video on YouTube, as I cannot be sure if the course participants would allow it, but I could make another trip and film that to show how stabilized the image quality is. It looks amazing when compared to the action cam (blurry and way more susceptible to the bumps on the road, but made for an interesing second camera angle when placed to the front fork of the bicycle at least).

I heard that but I always wonder how much creative accounting is going on with things like that as it allows them to claim various incentives.

No the race started from Maldon and went around the country roads near chelmsford.    The post of the high street were maldon high street.
