Just curious, what are you filming that 400' is not enough altitude?

So if i get this right , in California , the state prohibits flying below 350 feet and the FAA won't allow above 400 feet .

Above people's houses nothing, but rivers and streams...that potentially are 'near' residential areas are much better from a lower altitude.

Exactly my point.  Yes is the answer.     Sounds like we need that zoom capability on the cameras!

I wonder what distance the lawmakers are going to consider 'near' to be. If that distance is reasonable, this might not be such a big deal for you.

Your point is well noted.   That's the other problems with regulations...when you get into the nitty gritty details, there are a ton of questions that popup.  Sometimes, because of the questions, they just overshoot and make a blanket 400ft height except where you take off and land from....

Actually the camera in the P3 does have digital zoom.

DJI has it disabled in the firmware. They have to.

Think of the ammo all these "that-drone-is-spying-on-me" people would have if the zoom was enabled.
