It's Aaron Avila, Founder of Inspired Flyers Drone Community.
As some of you know I messed up the micro usb charging port on my controller and unable to get it repaired at this time.
I'm curious if I can charge it using the standard usb just above where the cellphone holder is?

No you cannot charge through that port.

Yes, That's the one. I damaged the micro usb charging port and can't afford to fix it right now.

Are you any good at soldering, if so you want a micro USB type A socket. I haven't a clue how difficult the soldering will be but there would be some satisfaction in fixing it yourself.
Another warning, the plug is an OTG plug which means it has an added connection in the plug, I DO NOT know if the socket is also a 'special', you'd need to google that.
BUT DO NOTE the socket is a type A socket, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_hardware

When you get it fixed get one of these, been using it for 4 years after a tip from a friend, never had a problem, keep well.

Hi, Aaron. Thank you for the reply. The port on the image is the Reserve Video-Downlink Port (USB) - it is used to connect to a mobile device for video downlink via a standard USB cable. Charging the remote controller is not possible on this port. We recommend sending it in to fix the charging port. Thank you for your kind understanding.

My sister Gamora, I don't mean to be a problem, but this port replacement must be a common service. So I am hoping you can simplify for my stroke brain. If I have it fixed by the factory, how much will it cost? Of course I cover shipping.
