I have just heard that DJI is releasing Firmware that will enable Phantom 3 Advanced to record video in 2.7k

Is it true?

As I have heard Firmware update will be available on 7th of September.

I'm wondering same thing... I didn't understand if new fw is enabling 2.7K on the P3A standard cam or it enables the upgrade to p3s 2.7K cam ...

I found another thread that on IFA Berlin DJI has officially announced it!

So we will be getting

POI, Follow-Me, Waypoints, Home Lock, 2.7k Video on P3A

Happy days    Pity they didn't chuck 2.7k on the P3P... but I'll be a happy P3A owner!

In the arcticle it mentions that the p3a is getting the 2.7 upgrade. It doesn't mention the p3p. I have yet to hear official confirmation that the p3p is NOT getting the 2.7k upgrade.

So why do you need 2.7K, just for the heck of it ?

4k needs a beast as pc for editing movies. 2.7k needs less power.;)

Yes one could always sell it if 4K is to much...

Well.. If someone has the p3p.. Then why shoot in 1080p? Yet the fact is many p3p owners often shoot in 1080p. And It shouldn't be too difficult for dji to add 2.7k to p3p if they are already doing it for the A and the S.

you know whats weird? The standard camera is currently better than the advanced's camera however the advanced camera costs 450 and the standard camera costs under 400. I believe 350, on the phantom accessories page.

It's not better. It's using a different sensor in fact, than the one on the p3p/a and i1.

Yes that is a good question if you'r after 1080P then why not buy the Advance to begin with. The thing i always find amazing is people who by a product and afterwards complain about it not getting "better". I didn't buy the P3P with hope of getting 2.7K or high fps mode @ 720. I bought based on the spec's listed at the time.

Don't always need 4k.. Right now not everything runs 4k well.. If I want to just pop a video onto a usb stick in my 1080p tv I can do that.. Sometimes I might want to do some editing using 4k on my computer.. I can do that too diff things for diff situations and devices. In the next year or so I'm sure I will have more gadgets that can utilize 4k

Yes but you bought the P3P with the spec's as it is now, without 2.7K right ? The need for 2.7K was never enough to deter you from buying the P3P evidently. You'r free to switch between 4K and 1080P as much as you want, you don't have the ability to record at 2.7K, which is a non issue  as the P3P was never marketed as having that format, if it get's it, great a bonus!

But complaining and arguing that just because advance get's is silly. Most of the people who complain about this don't need it, they want it and mostly for no other reason then to add to their spec sheet's.

Yeah.. Some might b complaining. Not me.. My original comment was just referring to the article about the update and some of the comments people were making. They were saying the p3p was not getting 2.7k.. The article that I read never mentions if the p3p gets the new resolution or not. Unless someone has heard otherwise I think that there is a good chance that it will receive it.. Hoping for 2.7k @ 48fps for p3p. Now that would be a nice upgrade for me. If it doesn't happen I'm ok with it.

Filming in 2.7k on the advanced will allow you to straighten and crop back down to 1080 to fix horizon issues many have.

Standard only does 1080p in 48fps, Adv does that in 60fps.

Switch to NTSC, you will get 60 fps in P3P at 1080p.

In fact, P3P should also have a 2.7K and in 60 fps. I would like to have a bit higher option than 1080p, but less than 4K, in higher FPS.

Still no word on 2.7k for p3p. Anyone else heard anything on this?
