I was not allowed to take off a minute ago because my M4P internal storage was full. How can this be after I had previously authorised a switch to the SD card which has over 50GB free? Worse, when I go into settings to format the internal storage, it won't let me do it and keeps shifting the highligt back to the SD card. Eventually resolved by tking out the SD card to enable internal storage to be formatted but I think something must be wrong here.

It's the stupid log files. I just got my drone a week ago, already had over 1.6GB of log files on it taking up space. Hook it to a PC via usb then check here:
This PC\DJI RC 2\Internal shared storage\Android\data\dji.go.v5\files\LOG\CACHE

My issue is with the drone's internal storage which is only 2GB. But filling up the RC2's 32GB internal storage with just log files in one week is pretty impressive - you must have been flying a marathon!

I have, six Plus batteries so I can fly the entire 3 hours of the RC 2's time. Recharge and try some more.
Night flight was interesting. Thankfully the strobe I got CAN be seen from miles away.

Back to the original, sorry, I mis-understood the original question. My mind was still freshly locked on to the RC 2 slamming me with so many log files. LOLI am certain you formatted the card, so I would suggest ejecting it, so it forces a swap back to internal, then reinsert and change back to SD? See if that works?
Sometimes software triggers need a reboot.

Yes, ironically the night light must make the drone visible over much greater distances than when flying in daylight. Glad you're having fun!

My problem with the drone internal storage isn't helped by confusing messages from the controller on startup asking me if I want to switch to SD card storage. Some folk have an SD card in both the drone and the RC so could easily make the wrong choice. DJI need to make that alert more specific by naming the device they are referring to.

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. We're glad that you managed to isolate the issue by formatting your microSD card. It is recommended to check the current set storage path, if the current storage path is full, it is recommended to change to another storage path or delete some data (make sure to back up first the files before reformating). Should you have other inquiries, please don't hesitate to reach us. Thank you for your valued support.

Thanks - but is it normal that I wasn't able to reformat the drone's internal memory while my SD card was inserted? What could be the logic?

If you have images on the drone's memory that have NOT been transferred to the drone's memory card WHY do you want to format the drone's memory?
I have moved images from a drone's memory to the card but forget which drone that was and the process.

I was out in the field ready to take off but not allowed to do so because the internal memory was full. Since it was full of rubbish which I didn't put there, I would happily have formatted it on the spot - but again, I wasn't allowed to. It was only later, after I'd packed up and come home, that I discovered I needed to remove the SD card in order to format the internal storage. Damned annoying.

Ah fair enough.

My experience may be the same.
[1] The internal memory needs to be completely filled up before it uses the SD card. Even though I have chosen the SD card as primary path.

I just leave the internal memory full.  This drone is new two me, only a few weeks old. I have the latest's firmware and I am still figuring things out.
