Hi Devildogg. Currently, the DJI Flight simulator only supports the DJI remote controllers for the Mavic Air, Phantom 4, Phantom 4 Advanced, Phantom 4 Pro, Phantom 4 Pro V2.0, Matrice 100, Matrice 600, Matrice 600 Pro, Inspire 1 Series, DJI Smart Controller, and Lightbridge 2. I hope you get some suggestions from your co-pilots. We appreciate your understanding and great support.

DJI Tony.  What are the obstacles to adapt the RC2 controller to work with the Dji flight simulator?

Quite a while ago a Dji rep indicated plans were forthcoming to make the simulator available to a broader set of controllers/drones.   Are there plans to make this available?

Hi, Hexter. We apologize for the inconvenience. Because the DJI Flight Simulator software is no longer being developed and DJI will not make further updates for this software, the RC 2 or newer released controllers will not support the DJI Flight Simulator software. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Tony

what support can the RC2 holders expect in the future.

Can you recommend any simulator we can use for practice and honing our skill sets?
Can't practice pinching the thumb sticks with console controllers.

Also given that i already have the RC2 can i buy only Drones which this controller is compatible with?

Hi there. I'm sorry we cannot provide information about DJI's future plans with the products in the meantime. You can try using the Virtual Flight App for now. Though it is primarily used to practice flying DJI FPV drones, it can give you a general idea of how to control your drone. Here is the link for the app: https://www.dji.com/downloads/djiapp/dji-virtual-flight. And yes, as of right now the Mini 4 Pro is also compatible with the RC 2. We appreciate your kind understanding. Have a great day ahead.

Some people have a hard time to control your drones because they have developed muscle memory for operating fixed wing RC aircrafts. To operate and film smoothly with your drones it is required to develop new set of skills and it would be great if users could do it from the comfort of their homes. I can't understand how company that big could not provide training tool to their products, unless it is intentional( less skills=more crashes) hence more sales! Shame on you DJI

Agreed with you on 1000000% For example in UAE you can’t fly anywhere and anymore. But how to get experience before vacation (for example) or just not forget rules and other…. Super strange (( before ordering I was sure it not be a problem, but I’m wrong.

Hi there. I understand the inconvenience. I suggest try using the Beginner mode feature on the DJI Fly app. To set it, go to profile>settings>replay Beginner Guide—Reset Guide then tap "OK", it will be in beginner mode. You can also go to camera view>Control>Flight Tutorial, then it will lead to Beginner Flight Tutorial. However, I will forward your feedback to the relevant team for awareness. We kindly request for your patience.

They want you to crash your drone so you either buy another one, or buy the protection plan.  Imagine buying a $450+ controller and not having this BASIC FUNCTIONALITY.  Weak sauce.  Going to switch to Autel in the future.

Hi there. Thank you for reaching out. My apologies if this remote controller is not compatible with the DJI Flight simulator, please understand that this simulator is only compatible with the previous version of drones mentioned by DJI Tony in post #2. Also, our drones are designed with multiple functions to ensure safe flying. We suggest reading the user manual before flying to ensure that you are fully aware of how the drone works. If you need further assistance, you may contact us. You may also want to check some third-party simulators that are available in the market including, Uncrashed, Liftoff, DCL, and The Drone Racing League, all of which are compatible with our product. You may try downloading this and try these alternatives as well. We hope for your understanding and support. Wish you have a nice day ahead. Take care.

I am confused.  This thread is about using the RC2 controller with drone simulators and you are saying that these third-party apps work with your product.  Are you talking about the older DJI controllers or the RC2?  As far as I can tell there is no way to use the RC2 with any third-party apps.  You cannot connect it to your phone or computer except to transfer data.  Or am I missing something?  DJI really needs to either include a simulator with this controller or open it up to third party apps.  It is ridiculous that we cannot use a controller this expensive with any simulators.

I think its pathetic replies from DJI..and all excuses. Why giving less and less the more advance the drones get and more expensive. Is it really that big a deal for a large company like DJI to develop / modify a simulator to work on the RC2??? NO IT IS NOT. There are alternate motives.

Even further development on the previous simulator has been stopped since March 24. And instead of giving clear instructions on which 3rd party simulators you can use/or will work, they just throw a lot of "suggestions". Poor poor customer service

Best SIMULATOR? Take the drone on a field without trees...use all 3 batteries....your muscle memory will refresh by itself.
No simulator is learning you the real behavior of a drone in wind and normal conditions, when you piloted an FPV you had no Sim at that time....so....learning is fast if is wanted, and is made on open field.

It's not the best option but you can use the SimuDrone app in Android and iOS, it works with the DJI mini RC controller. It's not an amazing option but it work for practicing if you're a begginer. It worked for me.

Good quality without traning support app. I wish to traning on RC2 as standalone device when i dont have chace to fly, For exaple during travl. I and more user wait for it. I hope will be soon.
Have a nice waiting time.

Just a question: how many people between all of you practiced with a simulator before getting the car driving licence ? Flying a DJI drone is much much easy.
I started flying drones with a self built F450, with a Ardupilot control board and a generic RC. Of course, no obstacle avoiding sensors were available ...  I've never practiced with a simulator. Now DJI drones are much easier to fly and in the recent models the obstacle avoidance is working quite well. I never crashed a DJI drone, also when flying in a forest between the trees.
My suggestion for the beginners is to go to the country, or to a not too crowded city park, to find a field without tree (and without people) and start flying. Typical exercises include the ability to fly back and forth, right and left, in circle and following a "8" pattern. After some limited practice, fields with trees can be used.

So basically from reading this thread.dji is only willing to let people that are experienced in fly with higher end drones practice. As far as I can tell Dji want you to crash your drone so you have to subscribe to their insurance and get more drones as you practice. And you know this is true because one they stopped support for newer and cheaper entry level drones but all the high end ones still have support. Secondly not does the rc2 not receive support for the in house sim but they refuse to allow the rc2 to work with 3rd party sims when every other controller allows this. They intentonally block people from practicing and these entry level drones so you depend money on insurance and buy more drones. Great job Dji really showing your costumer base how much you care. Jk kidding they fit give ... as long as they make their money. Rip new drone pilots. I’m selling my Dji and building one from scratch for a fraction of the cost it’s actually easier than you would think. You should too!

Are you driving a car ? How many hours did you practice with a simulator before getting your driving license ? I never had a simulated car drive in my life (excluding GTA5, of course ..) and I never had an accident caused by me. I'm driving since 40 years.
IMHO flying a DJI drone is far simpler than driving a car. It can be learnt just start flying with prudence in easy environments, then moving to more complex environments when your skills are improving. If you cannot fly a DJI drone on an empty field without crashing it, you should probably find a different kind activity. Accidents may also occurs to experienced pilots, but being not able to practice with simulators is not an excuse.

The RC2 is not identified as controller because no drivers exist. So you can't use it as a controller for simulators. But it would be great to have such an opportunity anyways. Even through third party software.

Hi, I agree with everyone in the thread saying that it is unacceptable for DJI customers to spend 100-200$ for a controller not compatible with a DJI proprietary app.
I add that the mobile app input is not limited to FPV gear since it takes touch input, so it makes no sense not to include compatibility from other DJI controllers, ,whose input is much more similar to FPV ones than using two fingers on the screen.

Please DJI team add a simple compatibility through controls mapping to the mobile app, and possibly to the Windows one too.
Thank you
